That's a terrible chain of events lol. I'm surprised the plastic part by the turbo didn't pop off from one end prior to cracking the intake manifold.

Yeah it was a "perfect storm" of what happened unfortunately. Out side of the money, it was a couple month wait to get the parts - that's when the volcano was shutting down air space over Germany, etc. a few years ago!

I installed the coilovers and links/bar myself, so a good learning experience!

Still a boost leek ... the tube on the left has a built-in check valve and it was leaking a lot. I cleaned it out by spraying brake cleaner in it and then air and that fixed it. I am working on getting the small check valve on the left off. It is not holding pressure either.

When I dropped my motor last month, it was obvious that it'd been out before as that back bolt wasn't even there, and I'm quite okay with that. Luckily, Todd @ Protomotive warned me about that very specific bolt before I did the engine drop.

(Just mentioning all this as a general PSA for other owners who may drop their motor in the future)
I'm confused. What intake manifold bolt attaches to the body of the car????? When I dropped the motor a few months back, there was no bolt on the aluminum intake manifold that attached to the body of the car.. The intake manifold was attached to the engine and everything came out as one piece as seen below... Looking at the top picture below, I think there is a pin that acts as a support on the top aluminum pipe where it says "RUF" right before it connects to the rubber intake hose. It doesn't seem like the bolt that attaches the aluminum intake manifold to the plastic plenum is really needed because the air box which is connected to the aluminum intake manifold on the front end also acts as a support anyway. Now that I think about it, I don't think I even had the bolt there prior to the engine removal and I added the bolt prior to reinstalling the engine (looking at the top picture after the engine was removed, I can see that the bolt was not there). I'm now tempted to remove the bolt that I added to prevent any chance of the plastic plenum from cracking. Thoughts?????
