Miami M3 is infamous around these parts
so still having this intermittent problem and becoming extremely frustrated

since making the thread - i've had the brake fluid flushed with castrol rbf and a new battery (along with plugs, coils, and other maintenance)

i get the ABS/PSM lights less frequently - and when i try to scan them with a durametric, the codes are not stored in the history

tonight i was running a data log for my software and had the durametric hooked up when the ABS/PSM failures came on and sure enough, good old code 4266 again -

this time though i had my car idling for 30 minutes when the faults just came on - usually they come on during start up - or in the past, as i've gone over a speed bump or other bump

my mechanic has had no luck - although quite frankly not sure what he really looked at in terms of getting to the bottom of this fault

the internet in this case seems pretty helpless, not too many with this particular fault code - found this on pca.com

When taking short trips and putting up and down the top and using the A/C - the PSM and ABS lights come on. They will stay on all day and after sitting overnight, they will turn off. Was told it was fault code 4266 - PSM return pump. Was quoted $3000 for parts alone. Was also told this is very uncommon and the dealer had never seen before.Wondering if anyone else has had this and/or if there are any other possible solutions/fixes?Thanks

Looking at the factory workshop manual, if they followed the test plan on page 45-D76, then I would be forced to agree with them. I might try to find a used one though, because I would hate to spend north of $3000 and still have the problem. If someone else sees this and writes in, I will be sure to pass it along.
and another guy with a boxster - but i am unsure what he means by replacing the circuit breaker in the distribution box ?
I believe I found the answer. In desperation I replaced the circuit breaker in the distribution box and the problem has gone away. I believe the breaker was making sufficient contact to allow me read 12volts at the pump but would not allow the required current to actually run the pump. May have been the breaker itself or may have been just a bad connection. Anyway so far so good.

After keep ignore it and It finally pops up the right rear speed sensor code and locked the 3rd gear, mine is a tip. I grab a brand new speed sensor and it doesnt heel, and we found the harness plus looks bad, replaced it with the harness repair kit and all codes are gone, ran 20 miles now only so far, will keep trace.

Thanks boyg.
I had the same issue with my 01 Boxster S.
on the Boxster I did get a specific code for the rear left speed sensor.
not the same with my 02 C2. I just get the 4266. It started showing once a month or so and getting more frequent.
today the lights turn on as soon as I start the engine or shortly after moving.
I wanted to avoid throwing parts at the car, but I guess there is no way around it.
the wheel sensor connector will fail eventually anyway, so I might as well start there.
I hope you solved your problem.
thanks and good luck.

Just jave a spin again, all good, and then pass through a speed pump, I can feel the abs pulse once...and then the annoying abs psm comes out again, 4266 is back...

The difference is there was no symptoms to pops abs psm before, now I can feel the abs pulse and it might think wrong operated and stop it...
