PCM SW upgrades

Guys,
being used to having SW upgrades for the navigation system about every 6 months made available by BMW for my M3 (I think I have made 3 upgrades since May 2002) I'm sort of interested to see if there are upgrades available for the PCM.

My car is a 2001 (May production) which means that there must have been some upgrade or patches from Porsche since then, or am I wrong?

So ... I interpret this as there has been no upgrades to the system. I guess it is the same PCM from 2001-2004??

OK, so I can assume that there will be no upgrade available for my 2001 PCM module then

Thanks for the info.

I agree.....as a BMW owner familiar with going in for constant software upgrades (745Li), I have often wondered why there was never a mention of PCM upgrades for the 996.

Any dealers care to comment??

if u guys mean software, isn't our software made by NavTech? in fact, all company's SW are made by them.

that mean's we should talk to Porsche to ask NavTech give us updated SW, if there is any!

NavTech provide the map data thats for sure. I do though definately think the UI comsponents are made by each manufacturer.

The things that I saw was a difference after the upgrades were:
* Faster response time when calculating new route
* Faster when selecting a new destination
* New UI
* Splitscreen, actually for a 16:9 screen but working perfectly on a 9:9
