996 Turbo / GT2 Turbo discussion on previous model 2000-2005 Porsche 911 Twin Turbo and 911 GT2.

Very Unhappy with my Clutchmasters fiber tough stage 3 clutch kit.

Im going to try the 2nd gear 4000 RPM method and hope for some reason it fixes the issue even though someone said it will only fix the on/off type engagement.
Did you use the CM pressure plate? I my experience the thinner a disc is the higher the pedal will be, I believe the kelvar disc is thinner then the stock.

I have a super "chattery" CM3 as well... I went with the LWFW too. I just got my car back from Protomotive and I think Todd's words were somewhere along the lines of "what in the world is this clutch? it's horrible..." haha...

I'll be taking this thing, and the AI flywheel out here before too long and going with the '11 GT3RS 4.0 clutch kit. That's what Proto uses for lots of clamping force and a stock feel.

Yup, Im using the pressure plate that came with the CM3 kit. I think I read it was a sachs pressure plate modified for more clamping power but I could be wrong.

There is a product that ram clutches sells that will help with the high engagement but will not work with pentosion. It is not a easy bolt in either. I feel your pain and clutches are so hit or miss. The same setup in two cars can be total different. I seen a lot of people where doing very well with the sachs 888 pressure plate and gt2 style solid disc, so I went that way with my daily and it is slipping. Pedal feels great tho. Who wants to go over kill on a triple and pay that freight. AND not know if you are going to like it!

EDIT: Don @ebs has a disc made for him that works very well up to 600 ft lbs, use the CM pressure plate.

I was told the same thing... Sachs PP, modified, etc... Maybe I can post a video of what it's like inside the car backing out of the garage and then going to take off in 1st. Haha... it's almost amusing (while I'm thinking about it, and NOT sitting in the car)

OK so I did this. It was hard mentally to do it since it felt like I was abusing the car but I followed the instructions and so far the chatter is GONE!!!! I took the car out for a 30 minute drive a few hours after I did the procedure and it is soooo much smoother. No chatter on take off and no chatter on downshifts even if I don't rev match. I tried to replicate my drive to work in traffic by doing a lot of stop and go. Not sure if I got the clutch hot enough but didn't get any chatter at all. Next I tried a couple of hard launches as well as hard 1st to second shifts to make sure the clutch was not glazed and slip. I had no problems at all. The clutch held the power great and would chirp the tires on the 1-2 shift.

The real test will be when I am stuck in traffic for an hour on a hot day but so far this has worked!!!! *knock on wood*

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with you - running gt2 with an lines. In my case would be pretty simple to install. Think I'll give this a shot.

That is it. Any hydraulic hose shop should be able to put ends on the factory hose. If you want to use -4 out of the slave use this:

Get a crush washer to fit the 12mm side.

Yikes

I had a South Bend clutch in my car for about 2 days, until I had it replaced. It was horrible, ON/OFF engagement, very difficult to drive. Was recommended by a friend who owns a shop.

Not sure what version it was, however, it did NOT look like the pictures you provided. It quite possible they have gotten their **** together by now, who knows, personally you won't find many, if anyone running a South Bend clutch in their TT on this forum, so there could be some level of risk.

Good Luck.

Drove it home from work in heavy traffic today and it was almost like driving it when it had a stock clutch. I even let my brother drive it just now who is over for supper. He swore he would never drive it again after stalling it 20 times the last time he drove it. His exact words were... Oh my god, I'm not afraid to drive your car anymore. It feels normal again. So awesome!!!!

I have the 764PP/4.0disc/964RS LWFW along with GT2 factory hydraulics. Drives better than stock. Perfect modulation, zero chatter and virtually no noise. Proven clutch for 90% of people out there in my opinion without any surprises all for right at $2k in parts. No need to reinvent the wheel....
