Dragstrip launch

Hi guys,

My car is RWD,ERP clutch triple carbon, gt2 slave, DSS axles, longer gt2 1st gear, suspension is KW v3, R888 315/30/18 in the back, good trans and engine mounts etc...

I have a 2step set at 5500-5700rpms...

Problem is wheel hop... a lot of wheel hop and it tends to brake things...
Tomorrow I will go to a drags trip and I have in mind the following:

- KW v3 new setup - softer and taller
- Use MT 305/35/18 instead of R888 315/30/18 - higher side wall
- Lower the pressure in the tires to 1.7 bar or even less, have to test this
- Try to slip the clutch as much as possible (will be hard to do this starting from 2step launch)
- Considering to preload trans using hand-brake

I know that a 1.7 60ft will get me low-mid 10s, so this is the target...
Looking back I was able to cut 1.79 60ft without launch control (ps2 !!) and my best launch using the 2step LC was high 1.8-1.9s... so not very efficient, is anybody who can get good times using the 2step ? I might just try to launch without the 2step but not quite sure ...

The drags trip is an airport prepared for this kind of races and I can launch directly from the concrete or from concrete+VHT as there are separate tracks for each of them...

Last year I used Mts and 2step @5000 rpms and had so much traction on concrete only that it bogged badly...2.3-2.4 60 ft... I had to use some PS2 instead to cut 2.0 60ft..

So, to use 2step or not ? to use concrete or vht ? any other advice ?

thanks a lot,

Fadi

LuvPorsche is infamous around these parts
Don't over think it, take a pass and see how you did and go from that. The biggest thing with these cars is getting out of the hole w/out too much spin or bogging and the rest is just quick rowing of the gears.
You running on pump or race gas?

Thanks for the tip... I will run a mix of pump (less than 25%) and MS109(75%) and 80-100% meth on top

I'll start at 1.7bar, see how she does, and might go all the way up to 2 bar

Use MT Tires is you are refereeing to drag radials. If so, lower them to 1.3 bar and get a quick burn out. If they are not drag radials then only lower them to 1.5-1.6 bar. This will give you more of a contact patch. With the MT drag radials, you shouldn't get wheel hop.

Forget about the handbrake. Just use the launch control and ease the clutch out. Do you have the GT2 slave conversion? The stock accumulator won't give you a good pedal feel for launching.

Btw, making the suspension softer on the front will help transfer weight to the back. And launching on concrete plus vht is better

if your using a 2 step slipping the clutch is counterproductive. use the 2 step launch it hard on drag radials set at 12 to 15 psi. if your suspension is adj. set the front to soft and the rear to medium hard to keep the weight transferred to the back . drag radials have to be heated up so a burnout box or water is needed to allow them to slip and spin heating them up. 2 to 5 seconds is enough. then hook and book!!

you might also want to lower that 2 step a bit. 5500 is a lot to come out of the box. try 4500 to 5000 and i think you will hook better
