That's why I'm puzzled...what if the diaphram in the DV are sticking but not torn? i would still hold boost right?

I just order 2 more 710n's

I'm just trying to figure out where the honking came from...or I just may be hearing things...

i can't change much after the plenum since in cali they practically stick a camera up yer tailpipe for smog tests and the kommisars don't like aftermarket parts. i have even considered covering the evoms lettering on the dv's lol. i understand why you want as many stock ( looking ) parts as you can assuming that's why you won't dump the bosch? but i can say these dv's are not prone to failure, and for me that's just one less thing to think about. either way, they are a minor fix and yet we all fixate lol.

Can't say I've heard of 710n's sticking before but doesn't mean it can't happen. When you remove them just check the piston movement out for yourself for smoothness and see if the vaccuum port holds it back.

I have upgraded 710N DV valves installed 10k miles ago. I'm boosting normal 1-1.1 bar and boost leak test holds 20psi with no leaks.
During back to back to back pulls...I swear I hear a "honking" sound coming from the rear once in a while..like a torn factory DV.

Those BOV's suck i found out mine were leaking for 4 months from Secondary Air Pump codes popping up all the time. Pressure test them from the top nipple if it doesn't hold psi then its leaking.

Start with the pressure test. Make sure it's holding. It's easy to do and quick. It will eliminate everything including ripped F hoses and or clamps leaking.
Then worse case take the dvs out and test them manually.

Newer 710N's are crap...they aren't even made by Bosch anymore. They sold the rights and design to a company called Kayser, and AFAIK all new ones say that on the side. I had some 710N's when they were still Bosch, and they lasted me about a year until one developed a vacuum leak (which threw secondary air codes, like 996TT550hp said). I bought a replacement 710N - a Kayser at this point. The thing honked like crazy from the get go. Held boost fine, but the honking was embarrassing. I returned that one for another 710N, thinking it was just a faulty one. Nope, the next one honked as well. I eventually just gave up on them and bought a set of Forge 007's, which have been great so far.
