Suspension question(new owner)
Just picked up my 01 tt. Question is, its been lowered 1" with JIC coilovers. They are 6yrs old and have 10k miles on them. Ride is pretty stiff.Hit a small bump( 1-2" bump )road const and rattled my spine. Would changing to a different and newer system make that big of a difference in ride stiffness ? not going to track the car but like the lowered look. Any thoughts? thanks

If you are not going to track the car much the Bilstein PS10 coilover is a great choice. It will be lower the car about 1.0" from stock (can be lowered more) and is a firm but comfortable ride on the street. I had PS10's installed several months ago and it is the best mod I've done.

They may be adjustable, but I doubt he will ever get them as compliant as he wants given the spring rates.
I would suggest driving some TT's with other setup and then buy some PSS10's new or used and sell your JIC's to make up the difference. This will be cheaper than re-valving your coil-overs and buying new springs.

FYI here's a comparison of the JIC spring rates in comparison to the PSS10 spring rates.
FRONT
Stock: 188 lb/in
PSS10: 260 lb/in
JIC: 448 lb/in
This is a 138% increase over stock and a 72% increase over the PSS10's. This is where you're really feeling it.
REAR
Stock: 343 lb/in
PSS10: 515 lb/in
JIC: 672 lb/in
This is a 96% increase over stock, but only a 30% increase over the PSS10's. This is still 24% stiffer than the 996.2 GT3 setup.

Pss9 or pss10 are comfy had them on my m3 for 4 years. Including winter time. Never had a problem with leaking or rust build up. Next year im going either just springs which i doubt do to age of oem shocks or pss10s

I've experience PSS9's, JIC's, and now have Moton's. The PSS9's and motons are a much more street able setup. The JIC's are just cheap purpose built shocks but have no business being on any street car. Just my .02.

I had JIC's also. Ride was terrible, even on full soft.
Worked well on the track. Crappy drop links that came with the system broke. Really cheapo. I ended up having to change out a bunch of stuff to make it all work.
Motons if you can afford.

For street driving only you can probably pick up a set of used PSS9 or PSS10 from the for sale section. MCS,Moton,JRZ etc are overkill for what you are looking for.
Also consider the Ohlins Road and Track, they are great for the street. Probably better than the PSS series in both areas, and new for new, may be the same price. You can get them from Ohlins USA directly.
