Snap a GT3 Sway Bar?

like any spring steel component...failures happen the odd time due to manufacturing fault, and due to after-manufacture damage, such as a abrasion or corrosion spot which creates a stress-point...
Hollow vs. solid is not the issue...the OE hollow bars are very well made....solid would be a downgrade in every way

The OEM GT3 bars are good. I wouldn't do anything else. Just like any component, items can fail. The softer your suspension is, the more load is placed on the bars..

per dave and 993, ws indeed a corrosion spot. snapped just the other side of the 4 qdj holes. ws weird. i never even noticed! have temp placed an oem rear just to get me thru few days until i find a suitable replacement. not looking to spend 600 on it but if i must? per pwdrhound it's gt3 bar for me or nothin.. well MAYBE tarret/gmg lol.
on top of that i've completely toasted a 80% ps2's tread on the inner from the added weight from the broken sway. oh well got a half life ps2 sitting here too. it sucks doing this stuff on a budget LOL
thanks guys.

thanks, but hr is too stiff. plus i'll be finishing my front end of the rwd conversion and there's only a cpl brands that are suitable( i am told ) and the gt3s are top of the list.

so i have three options keeping in mind it's fr/rear both. gt3 ( best ) tarret or the gmg.
any thought on the gmg frnt/rear with the gt2/3 uprights? or should i stick with the gt3 sways ft/rear?
thx!

I like the OEM sways. The GMG bars are Eibach made to "secret" specs and their claim to fame is that they are something like 40% stiffer than the OEM GT3 bars. Stiffer is not necessarily better. Sways are a fine tuning tool. You want the suspension to function independently. I'd stick with the factory bars given the choice..

^ me too, stiffer ( in the case ) is NOT better. i see no reason to experiment and have learned ( some of which from you actually ) that oem is optimal anytime possible and with all else being equal. i'm just trying to avoid 600 for the oem gt3, and it seems very rarely do used ones come up. i was told they used to be a cpl hun, maybe 300 at most. now 595 is the best i can do from ryan/suncoast plus shipping. ouch.
i would say "if it ain't broke dont fix it but ..lol ) you get my drift. thx john.
add: not for nothin.. shout OUT to 996twinns for helping me out on this temp replacement. if ever i can do any favor for you? or pay it forward pls ask! thanks!
