K16 billets - best 'road course' tuner + clutch question
#46
an acquaintance (who owns a modified 6tt and has driven numerous other modified 6 and 7 turbos) who drove a real GT2RS told me is that the power delivery in the RS was much more linear than in any modified tt he'd ever driven. This is the direction I'd like to go with my build too. Hybrid K16s or possibly A28s seem the way to go for this.

pretty sure stock k24 setup isn't optimal ( having had an x50 ) but i never a gt2 . perhaps the gt2 mapping changes things enough for the oem k24 setup *enough* to make sense as a well rounded power curved car. mine wasn't. hated that lag!... until the neck snap lol.
hybrids dont act/deliver power that way, btw.

I assume you mean K24 hybrids - yes, of course there are many variables that affect the torque curve including the tune and both sides of the turbo. Both K24/26 variants I have driven have not left me overly excited, tho. I have no idea how much was down to the tunes, the exhausts (both had 200 cell cats IIRC), or any other factors.
My present thinking is: for the coming season to try to achieve somewhere close to 600 FWHP with K16 billets and for the year after to try to better that figure by 100HP. And the year after...
I think I am at the top of the slope with my boots on, and I am about to step into my skis. We'll see if I manage to get down in an elegant fashion or if I go out of control somewhere. Probably the latter. I've already been spending much more than I wanted on brake/suspension components (got several good deals - had to go for it ).

no, not all i meant stockers! k24 x50 is slow to spool. gt2 mapping may be a bit more hyper but not much if at all. it cant be, owing to the inherent limitations of the components eg gt2 ic's 3.8 fpr etc etc,
aT 600 YOURE AT OR veRy NEAR THE INTERNAL LIMITS OF THE ENGINE PARTS. YOU'LL BEND A ROD OR SOMETHING

Did you ever decided on a final combination for your Porsche?

2015 bump for info!
My goal is to have a powerband and curve similar to a 997 GT2 or GT2 RS - so in the range of 530hp to 620hp at the crank with tons of area under the curve and a strong pull to 6500rpm on pump gas. Are K16 Billets the ticket?
Does anyone know how many lb/min the stock K16s flow vs K16 billets vs K24s?

K16 billets go along way if the kit is set up right first time. Good ics , open exhaust and injectors. The rest is all in the tune and pressure tests.
Been there done that . Our kit ran a record 5.86 sec 60 to 130 mph.

+1. I would like to have some fun with the 991 Turbo and Turbo S at the track.

Hey fellas .Bringing an old thread back.
I am a new onwer of a TT .
As i said in the'' RWD conversion thread '' Im new to these cars but not to tracks.
Though, i've found most of my answers in here already ..
I would like to know if K16s billets /72lbs/EPL base tune on straight pipes is SAFE on these motors for HPDE and time trials . I see boost levels from 1.1-1.3 bars .Thats on 93otc
??
Thanks in advance

I run 91oct EPL 'track' tune, stock k24 + 1bar WG's, 72lbs inj., catted straight pipes, and same boost. Flawless lap after lap, and quick. I told Tony I wanted absolute consistency/safety hot or cold and he delivered. We played with throttle/boost mapping a bit from the base tune(which is also very good) to dial in how I wanted it, and I'm very happy with the results when performance/track driving.
