Diy clutch change??!
its not that its longer but it allows for easier tilting and movement of the trans install. ( actually it may be a little longer i don't remember) it was a tip on a diy and i didn't do it the first time i reinstalled the trans. i struggled to line everything up. after that of course i had to remove and reinstall about a dozen times to get the infernal clutch fork lined up and it made the process much easier
Hummm another interesting suggestion! Love it! Thanks for sharing!
when you go to reinstall the clutch fork rod use some high pressure grease and pack the needle bearings. then a light film on the outside of the cap. it will help keep the bearings from falling out and slide into its slot
Excellent suggestion.
Alright guys. Getting ready to put the trans back in.
Case is drilled and tapped, gt2 hydraulics all replaced, coupler pulled.
Flywheel on, disc and pp on, any tips tricks as far as taping the fork in place?
Seems hokey. Any best practices? Ex. When should I fill the hydraulic system etc?
Thanks!
Gonna be getting the last couple parts here (I lost the shift rod cap brace and bolt) and picking up some porsche grease.

What do you guys think about this...
The biggest obstacle I see is the fact that you tape the fork in (which I see it getting you close to where can push the rod in to make up the difference. However the difference seems dicey as you try and slide the rod end into the needle bearings without disturbing them.
Maybe pack the needle bearings with grease, which seems to be advice everyone gives, but what if I put that cap in the freezer overnight too so that the grease is as thick as I can get it to help keep those bearings in place?
Also, the little ring seals that go on the rod, I imagine those fit through the clutch fork? So you put the two seals on the rod and then push it through?

give me a call let me know how things are going.
no need to ice the caps. grease them and slide them thru the clutch fork. as long as you don't pull the back towards you its fine. if you pull it back then the far cap will fall of and you get to search for needle bearings

Haven't started yet. Had to pick up some dealer parts on the waY home.
Got to see this though.
I was under the impression the caps didn't fit through the fork and that the furthest cap needed to be installed prior to inserting the fork shaft.

sorry no pics of the work... had a hard enough time getting the blasted pivot shaft in.
But it is in...
Good stopping point.
I can see light at the end of the tunnel
