Does the shaft come all the way out?

I threaded in the bolt and it moved substantially

Pull it out completely! Of course the fork will fall inside because it is not taped but it will be on reinstallation

Next step is to separate the transmission! Good luck with this part and remember it is heavy! Around 160 pounds!

Did I mess up my slave cylinder? It wasn't out of the trans all the way when I dropped the trans.

It seems like all it did was pull the rod out. And went right back in. Ideas?

Remove the rubber boot at the end of the slave and you will see the pushrod is free inside….

Now it is time for a good inspection , of course of the clutch, pressure plate and bearing but also the needle bearings for the clutch fork. Both sides should be inspected properly….

Stupid triple square bits I bought won't fit the clutch! M8 is like a hair too big.

Is it seriously m7?

My clutch creaked really bad prior to this, something inside the bellhousing. Kevin at UMW suggesting the roller bearings, so I need to look at everything. I really hoped to get the clutch out to figure exactly what I had in the first place.

those are the instructions I used. I wish someone knew for sure what size of 12pt socket I need...

the only thing I did differently was pull the accumulator off the slave to get to the bolt...way easy

One of the best tool I bought was a set of torx star socket from Sealey. Order it from England. I use this tool often used and it is very strong!

Looks like you need a T-50 socket! I just found a DIY for a clutch replacement of a 997 and the bolts that hold the pressure plate is the same part# on our 996TT. The tool Rotmilky (the thread starter) used is a T-50 socket!

http://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum...-i-did-it.html

Many on Ebay and Amazon….

Be careful, your's is non oem, may be different type of bolts!
