Question Sanity check - 19" wheels

Hello chaps, before I spend a shed load of cash I just wanted to double check that my research is correct. I have an '05 Turbo S, currently with original 18" hollow spokes (8" and 11"). Absolutely fine but aesthetically not my cup of tea. I've always liked black faces and silver rims and am quite taken by the Black Satin BBS CH-Rs (http://www.lkperformance.co.uk/wheel...39&rim_size=19). Unfortunately they don't do these in my desired widths at 18" but they do at 19". So I am considering the following:

Front 19x8.5 ET 51 w/ 235/35 R19 Michelin Pilot Sport 2, N2

Rear 19x12 ET 45 w/ 305/30 R19 Michelin Pilot Sport 2, N2

According to my calculations (and confirmed on TireRack), these tyre sizes are within 2.4% - less than the consensual 3% to avoid front/rear diff issues. My question is, am I going to be able to fit these without bodywork mods. and/or spacers? Discuss ....

I went with 19 x 8.5" ET 53 with 245/35 on stock suspension and they scrubbed. I used an 8mm spacer and all is good

That wont fit dude. 305/30 will hit the chassis. 12 " is crap for the 996 turbo cause there is no good wheel combination left, since michelin stopped producing the 315/25. Stick to 11" or 11.5". You can go with 245/35 and 295/30 or 225/35 and 305/25. other combinations will be no good for the AWD. The front wheel must be bigger than the rear.

I'm lowered about an inch and run 305/30's in the rear. No rubbing.

Nexxus_01 is infamous around these parts
I've got HRE 19" in 245/35 and 295/30 on mine and everything fits great with no rubbing anywhere.

TireRack still has 315/25/19s Michelin PS2. I'm about to order right now actually. What I can't find are the Conti sport contact 2s, which came with the car and a little pricier.

Without spacers, mine is on:
315/25/19 and 235/35/19

Are you on stock suspension? Keep in mind you may feel like lowering it after installing the wheels. It never ends, does it ?

Insane price for a street tire.
If you through out the awd than u can do what ever fits the chassis. Otherwise
18" 225/40 and 295/30 is fine.
19" for show
18" for dough
Thats my opinion.

You said this on the other forum too, and you will get the same answer....TireRack is WRONG, and your math is WRONG.

First off, that 3% number is all hearsay. No one knows for sure.
Second, you are moving to 2.4% in the wrong direction if the fronts are spinning faster than the rears.

Can you run 305 and 235? Sure. Is it going to be ok? Possibly, no one can say for sure. What we can say is with that tire size you will not get torque to the front until the rears slip.

The MOST CORRECT tire size in 19s is going to be 315/25 and 235/35 in a 996TT

Excellent, some good feedback here and yes I'm on stock suspension. Taking all this on-board I've recalculated for 8.5 and 11 inches:

Circum = ((Dia * 25.4 + 2 * Width * Aspect / 100) / 25.4) * PI
RPM = 1760 * 36 / Circum "Revolutions Per Mile"

Standard:
18x8 ET50 225/40 RPM803.94
18x11 ET45 295/30 RPM807.74

Possible:
19x8.5 ET51 225/35 RPM800.30
19x11 ET56 305/25 RPM806.60

This all looks pretty plausible, my only concern now is the rear offset but I guess a suitable spacer (8mm?) should push the wheel out more?

I run a 19x12 with a 305/30/19 and don't rub. I did roll the fenders though. My 315/25s rubbed all over. Depends on wheel backspace too

I run a 19x12 with a 305/30/19 PSS, GT2 Fender Liner Brackets, lowered on H&R Springs and rubs over compression's in the rear like crazy, even with the fenders rolled. Undriveable for anything other than putting around town.

PS2's should have less of a square sidewall so you might get away with it. But if I were to do it all over again I would run a 19x11 with a 295 and call it a day and be happy and problem free.

As it is i'm revamping me entire suspension this winter to try and finally cure the rubbing.

I have the same wheel and tire setup. When I was on H&R springs I would rub on full compression as well, which also wasn't hard to fully compress. I went back to stock spring for a little while and improved performance before going to KW V3's with a nice 1" drop. No rubbing ever. I was very happy to get rid of those H&R springs.

the best preventative against rubbing tires against the liners is to run 18 inch wheels which the car was designed to run optimally.

what exactly is the point to 19's?! just properly stance the car with 18's even if you need to run 7x15 spacers. then you have achieved the lowered plant, without sacrificing handling while you are actually adding harshness of ride on city streets etc etc. sheesh. whatever lol

or why not just run 20's ... and may as well put lights in the wheel wells while you're at it

just kiddin.. really. 19's are perfect

I run 19's because I can get the types of tires I want. Any tire I would consider for 18" wheels is actually heavier than the Pilot Super Sports I use on my 19" wheels.
