Is this a bunch of bull!

This was posted on Rennteam (996 turbo forum)about a Porsche arbritration regarding PCCB brakes. www.rennteam.com

Just went to arbitration and the outcome was to deny resolution. Porsche flew in two representatives for this meeting - obviously there is concern about the outcome of this case. One person was flown in from Rochester and the other was flown in from Atlanta. The reasons for the denial of my case are:

“The Manuracturer presented documentary evidence indicating the the Porsche includes a warranty with the vehicle in question which excludes from warranty coverage any….competition, racing or track use… While Porsche, according to the warranty booklet, will repair or replace with a new or remanufactured part distributed by Porsche Cars NA…that is defective in material or workmanship under normal use…Normal use is defined in the Porsche warranty Manual as follws: To be driven on reasonable road surfaces within legal speed limits… For the above stated reasons, the Arbitrators agreed that this Consumer is not entitled to relief…

The games continue.........I will keep all advised that are interested. If you want to see my entire thread it's now in the 996 forum under "Another PCCB Story".

CJV,

Very much so... We purchase their cars (Porsche) and they expect
their owners to drive them within the legal speed limit on the track.
Other wise , if anything happens your SOL.

I guess if one takes their car to the Porsche Experience /Driving School, they can expect their car to be 'black balled' when it comes to warranty concerns.

It's sad how Porsche can 'market' their cars and expect their
owners to only use two out of six gears.

Just my .02

i can understand not fixing things that were clearly broken/used up by track use. For example, if someone blew their motor after running an endurance race or something, then obviously PCNA is not responsible. However, it seems that in the few PCCB cases, the probably is clearly a manufacturing flaw in those rotors. Track use did not cause the problem, it just made it apparent quicker.

That being said, i don't know what these people are doing wrong with their brakes because our PCCB's work damn well.

If the rear spoiler has ever deployed on your Boxster or 911, then I guess you could be SOL for any " unusual " degree of wear warranty claim in the future . Maybe that's another reason they set their speedometer 3-5 mph higher than actual speed. I recall a few years ago someone who tracked a Boxster S getting pissed over this and traded for a Z06 , since GM/Chevy are OK and encourage tracking, as they see it as an additional way for them to burnish the car's performance image. They even include tracking tips in the new owners orientation video.

I just think we all ought to send Porsche a little e-mail and tell them exactly what we think of their bull **** tactics and defenses.

Chris,

I have not been able to locate their e mail address. If anyone knows it please post. Who would want to buy a Porsche under those conditions. Their warranty is USELESS. I know I would never buy another Porsche under those BS conditions.

I guess their off road vech can't be taken off road either. Imagine your warranty being voided because you exceed the speed limit. Then in what state? What if they don't have a speed limit.

is PCNA committing fraud in selling the used PDE cars each year while claiming the remaining full factory warranty comes them?

Frankly I'm fed up with Porsche warranty. My service advisor is a total PITA about warranty claims. I'm not the type of person to nit and pick about every problem w/ my car, but certain things I need fixed and it doesn't. I have a horrible rattle in my rear window and sunroof and the service advisor says its normal for a high performance car such as the turbo to have rattles...that may be the case, but the problem can easily be solved with some of the TSB's Porsche has put out. Oh well...I love the cars, but I hate the service. Next time they call me for a dealer service survey, I'm going to give them my $0.02.
