odd electrical gremlin...cruise control
odd electrical gremlin...cruise control
So, everything worked perfect. Was wrapping the car so I had the doors apart and 3rd brake light. Everything back together and working. Including the brake lights. Battery did die and was dead for almost a month but running now. Anyway, the cruise light will not even come on, nor work. I never touched the clutch pedal, or brake switch or anything else.
Any ideas?

Other than the cruise control lever, the brake switch and the clutch switch are able to deactivate the cruise control. The control comes from instrument cluster to the ecu….. Also fuse B7 is part of the picture, see drawing….
If the clutch pedal switch, brake pedal switch, 3rd brake light and stalk are all good (you can test them with a multi-meter) the cluster could have lost coding for the cruise control. It can lose the coding if the battery goes dead, although this is more rare than a previously mentioned parts, so check those first. If it is the coding, you'll need to find someone with a PST2 or PIWIS tools to re-code the cruise control (a durametric pro might be able to do it, but the enthusiast version can't).
I had the same issue. I tested everything and determined it wasn't hardware. Brought it to a shop and they recoded the cruise control and it works perfectly now.
