Can the Sachs 764PP be modified for more clamping force?
Just like the title says, can the Sachs 764PP be modified for more clamping force? Has anyone done it and what would the limits be? I'm looking at holding about 650whp and torque. The stock 764 may be fine but looking at options in case it's not. I would like to stick with the 4.0 disc I'm running due to it's excellent drivability. No, I don't wanna go to ERP, Tilton, or any other multi plate clutches unless absolutely no other option.
just so you have at one other option or opinion, once my carbonetics triple c/f clutch was broken in (1000 miles) its fantastic in traffic on the drag strip or cruising down the road. a bit noisy at the light with the pedal depressed but not jerky notchy or uncooperative. works better than my oem clutch ever did. even the smallest p/p (1100kg) will hold the power your wanting to be at

Is it slipping already or are you just being proactive? This clutch is at the top of my list due to your and others' recommendations but I'm planning to eventually go with A28s and would like to make sure this has sufficient holding power.
Interesting thread.. This is a great question.
I hate my ERP triple clutch during stop and go traffic. Engagement point is to short for me. I understand the "slipping clutch theory" but, at the track, the clutch performs very well. You may want to drive my car for a few more laps "alone" at the track to get a good feeling for it.
Forget the engagement point that I complain about as, most have modified the master cylinder pin to change the height of engagement.
You could also borrow it for a weekend if that helps with your decision.

No, it's not slipping at all and feels perfect. The 764PP/4.0/964RS LWFW is hands down the best clutch I've ever had, bar none. I'm not putting out huge power as I'm at 590whp/630ft.lb but my engine is getting rebuilt right now and will probibly be a bit stronger at closer to 650whp. I'm thinking I'll still be fine as it's a road course set up and not a 1/4 mile car but I'm just looking at options as everything is out right now. If it's a problem than I'll address it when the time comes I guess but just looking at my options.

It's an option. I wonder if the twin plate set up has better feel? Also curious if the high engagement point in your case is a function of the evoms bracket. I suspect if you go with the drill and tap method the engament may be better as it changes the angle of the slave rod. Probably doesnt take much. The engagement might be better on my car since it has the factory GT2 set up. Hopefully I won't have any issues with the clutch but we'll see. I emailed Kevin at UMW and he says he has an option for modifying the 764 for more clamping force but it's a 2-3 week wait which in this business generally means 4-6 as I've learned. I guess I'll deal with it when I cross that bridge..
Drive my car dude.
I agree, the wait is ridiculous in this industry. Like I stated from time to time, "We live in a Microwave world." we need results yesterday.
I would love to hear your opinion on my setup. Mine opinion is based off a weak stock setup and an extreme ERP 3X setup.
You have experienced the mid point with your current setup.
My car sucks in first but, its nice once moving.

66 on Friday, should be good for some street driving.
Why couldn't tell you over the phone that is was not possible thus saving you the hassle of sending it in? It's not like they've never seen a 764PP before. At least you would think..
Sure dude, I don't drive my 911 to work but (I work on Friday's,) you can pick it up in the morning though.
I'm almost always up for lunch.
