I am addicted to tracking!!!!

Damn, I went to my first club track event today and I must say...I AM HOOKED!!! I didn't even go out and I can tell I like it... The event was at Moroso in Palm Beach Gardens/Jupiter FL and was held by PDC (Performance Drivers Club) which is a FL division of N.A.S.A .

I hung out with a group of 6 Porsches:
2 GT2's (1 Euro Club sport, 1 US GT2, both with cages and GT3 seats, BBS Mag. wheels (1 with Hooser sp?slicks, and 1 with Pirelli slickss).
2 996 Turbos (1 with slicks, 1 totally stock)
1 2001 996 Carrera (GT3 areo, champion wheels, etc....)
1 2000 996 FVD Carrera (FVD body kit, OZ rims, etc...)
All were great guys, and AWESOME drivers!! I had so much fun hanging around, watching their sessions, and watching their cars get tuned. Anyone in FL should check out this group if you have not already, they go to Sebring, Homestead, and Moroso...
Here is a link to their website:

Also here is a link to pics of the Moroso event a few months ago, almost all the same cars were at this one so you can get an idea what I am talking about...all the silver Porsches are the ones I hung out with..

Best part...even being 17 I can participate next time around!! I will most likly be attending Skip Barber in Feb. as they will be coming to this track for a 3 day race school. This will qualify me for my SCCA license and enable me to be in the March 16th Moroso event (none sooner )
Very excited,
Evan

Not really, not much skill to drive fast in straight lines, the curves are the fun and where the skill plays the role, leave the drag strips for the American Muscle.

Yes... tracking is a blast.

There are a bunch of other clubs in the area too...

www.chinmotorsports.com
www.pbocflorida.com

I'll be at Homstead on December 13/14th with Chin Motorsports if you want to come down and hang out.

EDIT: I totally forgot about Sunday, I'd have liked to have gone up there and watched and taken some photos.

Yea Kevin, shoulda come out was a lot of fun...I will be in HIN that weekend so that will not work for me, but thanks for the invite!! Unfortunatly Chin also requires you to be over 18 (was talking to a guy who runs it at PDC Sun.). Looks like PDC is the only one I can do....are you a member of PDC?? Do any of their events??

Hi Performance Drivers Education in January

The Porsche BMW Owners Club / PBOC allows drivers at 17 and we offer

1) Street Survival Safety School
2) Skid pad Safety School..Both of these are run by Nationally
licensed Professional Instructors
3) Classroom sessions on Hi Performance Driving for beginning drivers
4) 4 levels of on track Hi Performance Driver Education, beginning levels are assigned an instructor

Once your 18 and reached the Solo Level you can then qualify to enter our Race Series which includes the

1) INEX Road Racing Series
2) PBOC Cup Series
3) BMWCCA Club Race Series

All of this is going on in different places during the day at the track
All PBOC events include Club Races, so not only do you get to drive and have fun you get to watch some racing

I want to go back out on the skidpad again, that was fun... I had a when I was on the skidpad. Nothing like holding a full-opposite lock drift across the pad.

As for pboc, nope... I haven't signed up to join their club yet, but the event on Dec. 13th/14th is a Chin/PBOC event, so I guess I'll get to see how they run the show.

Evan Welcome to the club. My advice, get the book Going Faster and read it. Secondly, unless daddy is going to cover you, get a beater to learn on. A tt is a hot and expensive car to learn on.

Not only that, but learning to be fast in a lower power car will make you a better/faster driver in the long run.
