You could try a washer to make it more secure, nice to see you got it going.

It just seemed like all the posts on the starter solenoid should be ridged. I just wish I knew exactly what happened.

Sometimes the starter solenoid internal contacts will arc and stick causing the starter motor to spin even though the pinion gear is not engaged to the flywheel ring gear. I have seen this many times. Disconnecting the battery or the starter is generally the only way to keep it from running. When power is reconnected and if you can get the engine started the increase in RPM of the flywheel will cause the pinion gear to over run and become disengaged. I have disassembled solenoids and filed the contacts and replaced the spring loaded contactor plate which sometimes is burnt. Not usually required, but can be done.

This sounds like what might have happened. starter rebuild?

I have seen that in older cars but I'm sure it can still happen. Have shop check out your starter new solenoid should be available separately .See ECS lists new bosch starter for 330

I just had a new built trans put in and now my clutch has a lot of chatter, its all brand new stuff that didn't chatter before the trans and motor were pulled so I have to take it out to see what going on. I'll address the starter then.

of course, this sh*t is free lol

that said, it'd be great to actually know what it was that was loose, so next time it happens ?? some of us will know! lots of times the ground strap is loose for the _____ once the trans get pulled. who knows, could be,. either way. nice job lol

Sorry to hear about the trans issues=agree it makes sense to do it all at once.
