1000th Suspension Thread - Trying to condense info
I think the main issue with the MO30's is actually finding them. Im somewhat tempted to give the BC's a try just for giggles to see what they can do. Especially since they can be revalved and use Swift Springs which I am a huge fan of.
But, if you decide to sell your MO30's I might change my mind

http://www.lufteknic.comNew genuine units are $450/ea for fronts, and $500/ea for rears. Heavy duty Bilstein (slightly stiffer than genuine) is $300/ea for fronts, and $400/ea for rears. This does not include strut bearings, bump stops, dust sleeves, etc.
Regarding monoballs it really depends on what you tolerance for suspension compliance is and what other suspension parts you have going on. I have them on V3s and would not begin to describe the ride as 'harsh'.

I was speaking with someone tonight and he said that a company called Feal might be looking at making suspensions for the 996. They are single adjustable shocks but they work with you in regards to valving and spring rates when you place the order and they use Swift Springs from the start. Going to talk to them on Monday.
I am running K-sport coilovers. Honestly, they are not bad and are 85% of the way to being great all around.
(+) Much better ride quality than stock (even though the car is much lower). Good overall handling and road feel.
(-/+) This one could go either way but I honestly think they have too much adjustability to get them dialed in properly.
(-) The 15% bad comes with driving the car hard through corners that have imperfect road conditions. If the suspension is under compression in the corner and you hit a bump or dip, it somewhat unsettles the car which is not confidence inspiring. I have since changed the preload and dampening some more but doubt it will eliminate this altogether. I need another spirited run to know for sure since you can't tell under normal driving conditions.
If it is still not to my liking, I'm giving KW V1 a try. Seems like the best option at the mid level price point.

Here is IMHO the best option going for a 996, full Ohlins TTX kit.
Great suspension comes at a price though, you must combine that with some other part to get what you are paying for. People above say mono ***** and such are to harsh, they are wrong, cheap shocks are harsh. With good suspension components the only thing you get with solid parts like Rod ends and mono ***** is more noise, but why spend $$ on good boingers to leave mushy rubber components in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then you better get your ride heights right, then do a corner weight and good alignment to make it all work!
I have driven numerous cars, especially lowered ones, that handle and feel just gross!

Thank you all for the responses! I will be updating the main post accordingly when I have some free time tomorrow (probably by the pool
)
I think Im going to go ahead and try out these Feal coilovers. Im really excited about the custom valving from the get go and the Swift springs. I think they might be a good intermediate system for guys that only lightly track their cars but dont want to invest heavily in V3s or such. I havent gotten deep into any conversations with them yet but I will keep this updated.
Cheers!

Gee should we get into the world of widening the front end, you use new control arms and adjustable dog bones and drive shaft spacers. That is a stellar mod for the handling of a 996.
Little too rich for me though
I have updated the main post with new info.
Someone PM'd me saying that Koni does actually make a set of shocks for the 996 Turbo. I have asked for some clarification on this and will update accordingly if true.
