CA Smog, it's been 2 years ... New rules ?
i just wonder what the guy thought he'd be looking to "find" anyway. its not as if those technicians are capable of doing much about anything. i wonder what the carb handbook says the (
) "star" station "obd pluggerinner" thinks they should look for. .. how about.. "using your pencil flashlight, if you see any red or yellow hoses
flag the car and report this transgression to the local kommisar immediately!"
we're almost there folks lol

no, "almost there" as in the shorter list will be the things we are all collectively still allowed to do legally
..and god forbid my muffler doesn't have a NUMBER
split gets "it" lol

Just had my 2003 Turbo smogged yesterday at 150K+ miles. (Just looked at the paperwork and there's no mileage listed anywhere. Strange.)
Anyhow I was required to take it to a Star station. No sniffer is used. The test machine is connected to the car's OBD2 connector. Took about 5 minutes. The engine idled the entire time.
Before showing up I took the car on a drive long enough to get everything up to full operating temperature and before I stopped at the station I used my OBD2 code reader tool to verify all the readiness monitors were set to complete.
The tech did open the engine compartment lid and with a bright flashlight spent some time peering down at the engine under the intake. The tech never bothered to look at the underside of the car. 'course the exhaust outlets are factory and are obviously undisturbed.
The car is completely stock (well, ignoring the 997 shifter).
The car passed all "checks".
Correction: There is a mileage listed. I viewed the paperwork in better light and the mileage was 150971.

Wasn't the case for me.
I actually had my first smog check at a AAA smog check station, they could care less where my car came from as long as it passed the CA smog test. At the time, my car only had a tune. I passed with flying colors.
roiled into a star station today for sh*t's and giggles and lo and behold one readiness monitor wasn't set even though i scrolled the scanner before going.. ( cats not ready ). imagine that.
can't for the life of me figure out why?!
now have to do the retarded *** reset protocol hoop jumping again. forgot how much fun that can be! but i'll remember soon enough. film at 11.
oh yeah.. looked to ensure there were cats is ALL. like i've been sayin. ain't nothing changed as long as you're ready and catted...
( he says NOW

Just a public service announcement that it is a roll of the dice when you pick a smog check at random.
I didn't anticipate any problem with a Europipe exhaust (about as OE looking as you can get).
I passed the plug in test, and got failed on visual for no EO numbers on the cats.

will be transmitted directly to Sacto and recorded as such.
it's best to go to your "regular" test station if and when possible. again, my "visual" was fine.
now i'm just waiting for a chance to do the stupid reset at 4 AM so i can maintain the friggin speed protocol
You can only have Evap not ready now with the star test. Before you were allowed 2 not ready.
