Slightly different way of doing a 2 pump system

Been having issues with the fuel system in my turbo, it has been cutting out at half a tank, so basically when the fuel level is below the swirlpot, clearly I have a problem with the jet valves not picking fuel up from the saddles so fed up with carrying fuel everywhere and unable to find out why the jet pumps arent supplying fuel to the swirlpot I decided to remove the jet pumps and see if anything looked amiss, it did not but having had a good feel around in the saddles I decided there was room to strap a pump to each jet valve and run the lines thru the swirlpot and up to the top hat, now even with a stock set up this could work. The stock pump comes out of the swirlpot and either 2 walboros or 2 stock pumps get strapped to the end of the jet pumps, I drilled 2 holes in the swirlpot and ran the lines up to the SRB top hat but you could fit a -8 fitting in the stock top hat and use that and a stock return line, the only bit you need to re-engineer would be the power supply.

I actually thought of this method too, but was curious if the jet pump hanger would be stout enough to hold the pumps securely without breaking away from the stock swirl pot. It should work assuming you have them pretty well secured to the jet pump arms. And then no need for trying to stuff two pumps in the stock swirl pump and it gives you more room to run fuel line, etc. without being so cramped by the top hat. Good luck and post some pics!!

What does your current setup look like? There should be no reason why your jet pumps shouldn't be working. Just curious.

Well I figured if they fall off they will sit in the saddle which is where I want them, the jet pumps were working and just stopped, i swapped out the SRB billet pot and put the stock one back in, still didnt work so I thought Im fed up with not knowing where it will run out so Ill move the pumps.

Ive left the fuel feed pipe from the jet valves as support and added 2-6 lines, one from the pump and the other back as a feed and used zip ties to hold it all together for support, it feels very secure and I doubt it will ever let go, especially as it should always be supported in fuel so cant move far or fast.

Interesting....it SHOULD work. I was about 1-minute away from going this route myself, but didn't feel like back tracking at that point to pursue it. Let us know how it works. If you really were so inclined you could fabricate some arms about of aluminum and connect them to the stock swirl pot some how and just dump all of the jet pump lines, etc. Good and luck!!

The walboros are considerably lighter than the stock pump and when I got an arm down in the saddle the pump and jet valve is touching the floor of the tank so im quite happy this will be a permanent fix.

My only concern would be running one of the humps dry because of some imbalance. The stock setup is protect from that because fuel is pumped in to lift new fuel into the basket, and the fuel from the basket is then used to run the engine.

A fuel pump isn't very good at pumping air, so you won't get air, but you will be reduced to the flow of one pump.

It would be no different to running out of fuel? The last dregs of fuel will be down in the saddles and personally if im 'on it' I would never let the car get that low anyway. In respect of picking up fuel this is no different to all the guys running a couple of 044's under the car with bulkhead fittings in the bottom of the tank.
Edit to say that as im running a Syvecs the momen t fuel pressure drops I go into limp mode so I cant do any damage in that respect.

I should have taken some pics of this but stupidly did not, BUT you are basically attaching a pump to each jet pump (you can use heavy duty zip ties or a couple of hose clamps) running a -6 line from each through a hole drilled in the swirlpot and up to the top hat/sender unit. This will have been altered to accept a -8 bulkhead fitting for supply (seen a thread showing how to this on this forum) so you go 2 X -6 into a -8 to inside of top hat and -8 to rear of car where you either split it or adapt to stock filter, IMO the stock return will be adequate for all but extreme set ups (where a big $$$ fuel system will be in the budget) You can let the return just pour back into the tank and fill it or in my case I used the suction lines to the jet pumps to channel fuel directly back to each saddle.

It will be fine, it hardly moves at all, I have built many fuel systems over the years and im very happy with how this has ended up. Its a good cheap way to get a bit more fuel to the injectors without spending fortunes, you need
2 X pumps (I would go 455 walboro)
3 meters -6 line
a fitting to go 2X-6 to -8
-8 bulkhead connector
-8 line to back of car (say5m)

The only thing that would need careful thought is the wiring to the top hat and then pumps, would go thick good quality wire from underside of top hat to each pump and a decent relay to take the load.

Your covered then. Monitoring fuel pressure is the key.

Wow 2x in one thread you got trolled by spammers lol!

Hoping the SRM fuel system is all I need but it's interesting to see how others tackle the fuel issue.
