MaxJax 2 post here. Was $2058 to my door. Uses standard 110 volt outlet and is portable. Meaning you can unbolt 5 bolts and tilt the post on caster wheels and move out the way when not needed or even bolt up and use somewhere else. The hydraulic hoses come with quick disconnects for portability too.
The extra tall lift would be VERY nice - I too am tall and I must duck every time I go under the car. I store a car on my lift and I have ot watch my head constantly and stoop ever so slightly to work on it so a few more inches would be great.
Pay attention to local sales. Garages often upgrade and sometimes go out of business - I've seen some serious fire sales on NICE lifts in my area via auction sites. My lift was $500 via a friend who was upgrading his shop and while ancient the thing works great!

For some of us 1 car garage folk, we wish to have a lift of some sort. A permanent mounted option doesn't really work for us. I have thought about the "Jack Olsen" garage type lift (using the scissor type recessed into the floor) But there has been a lot of talk on a garage forum about the new QuickJack system that is portable (they even have a 12V DC motor version which you could power off your track car at the track!) as of right now the 5000XL 110V version (suitable for our 996 "lift points") is out of stock. Due to ship in July sometime. There is quite a few youtube videos also to give you an idea as to how it all works.
