Spark plug and coil replacement should I do this preemptively?
I've got my intercoolers off to do a small upgrade as well as the exhaust system. It'll be really easy to change the plugs right now. I've also got a set of brand-new Beru coils.
Plugs were changed by the dealer only about 3000 miles ago. Coils original as far as I can tell from 2002. The part number is 99660210200
The replacement plugs I have are Bosch FR6 DPP 332 Single electrode platinum iridium.
The cars been running fine. I pulled one coil to examine it doesn't look heat soaked or otherwise cracked or degraded. Should I take the plunge and replace these while I have an easy opportunity?

Also I would use the dbl electrode Bosch 6's.

If the coils are original and I didn't plan on being back in there again anytime soon then yes I would replace, how many miles on car? Plugs are cheap so I would replace them also but they don't need to be.

turbo engines want the best electrical charge they can get. the best conductor of electricity is copper. all these double platinum quad unobtanium are crap. use a single electrode copper plug and change them every time you do an oil change. (cost is 18$) if the coils are 996 version change them to 997 upgraded coils

it's plugs and coils. too bad there aren't any 996 coils anymore or else we could debate which of those might be better lol. bottom line is plugs and coils, the more you change em the better the car runs. you're running the hotter plug from the stock 5 so that'll be an improvement, as will the more frequent changes.

me too. but the question was about pre-emptive maintenance, and if there were any items one could be easily justified in maintaining preemptively they would be oil, plugs, and even coils, but certainly less so than oil and plugs.
a rhetorical question but i'll pose it:
has anyone EVER?! not found their car ran better after changing either, or any of those items? i do, and consequently i do change them often.

So I did the plugs and coils. Why not, eh? I also swapped intercoolers for GT2 version and installed a Speedtech exhaust with new sensors and extenders on the post cat senders.
