Hey guys, I recently replaced my conductor plate and besides not being able to clear the codes from my TCU with Durametric (they are working on that now) all went well. JPflip came to the rescue with his PST2 and cleared my codes and got the trans out of limp mode.
Well, the few days that the car was actually in emergency mode, it would thump when put in drive or reverse, and developed a fluid leak.
I suspected the oil pan seal, so I replaced it, old one looked fine anyway. Same leak. Cleaning the area and waiting, it looks like it comes from the seem between the bell-housing and main casing of the transmission. I'm thinking while in limp mode, pressures were out of whack, causing a soon-to-fail gasket blow right there and then?
Either way, looks like I'll have to drop the engine/tranny for this repair. Anyone else experience this type of leak? Does anyone know if this seal is available? Or a diagram where I can see what seal is actually there?
Someone with better info will chime in but I have seen other people with that leak, the gasket was a little hard to find but repair didn't seem that bad. Will look for thread.https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ght=trans+leak
rmc1148, thanks for your reply. I've seen that thread, but that's not where mine is leaking. My leak is on the engine side, between the actual bell-housing and transmission case, not transmission case to transfer case.
See the pic, i couldn't catch the oil leak in the picture, but it is leaking from between the trans pan and bellhousing. Basically, the trans has to be separated in order to replace whatever seal is there. At first it seemed like just a pan gasket leak, but it comes from higher up, dead center of the pic. The fluid accumulates onto the nut as seen, but as I said, the camera couldn't capture the actual source of the leak which is to the left of the oily nut.
[QUOTE=Ringlord;4365103]OK I finally found this on another thread! The leak is coming from this seal/area number 544 in the pic. What a horrible mess, lol.
OMG this is not funny!!! This picture is from the Mercedes EPC? Can it be coming from higher up were a plug is?
