My indie left my cap off my brake fluid 2 weeks ago and I just noticed it, nothing seems to have happened so far.
Its currently Saturday night here and will not find a replacement soon enough.
I am going for a very spirited drive in the morning with a group of other cars and wonder if its ok just to wrap it for now with cling wrap and electrical tape.
you need to wrap it and then wash the area down with water. petosin is corrosive to rubber and every time you push the pedal your splashing the fluid into the area.
james at the risk of repeating myself? do me a favor please, and forgo the spirited drive until its properly capped. this is a potential for headache and as 32 mentions fluid spill you do not need. garage it unless absolutely necessary to get to the shop. i *might* drive it there after saran wrap and a rubber band but sheesh. no man, just.. pls no.
Thanks for the replies. After reading your concern Mark, I could not sleep and then it struck me that a good friend who is coming on the drive tomorrow has just purchased a 997 C4S but taking his Audi R8 for the drive and he was kind enough to loan me his brake fluid cap.
There was no fluid spillage that I could see.
Love this forum, thanks again everyone.
Found my cap at at the bottom of the trunk, so looks like he forgot to re tighten when tested fluid.
Fluid test came out ok but they still changed it including 2 new sensors and as warning light
Came back on after new rear brakes.
Had a great run though the hills yesterday.
Happy to report that the 996T performed flawlessly and even outperformed the new GTR through the bends, I had way more grip than him. GTR was sliding and stepping out quite a bit where's mine was very stable. I guess the GTR is better suited to a smoother tarmac like a race track but not bumpy ones.
My current alignment is spot on, the owner of the service center aligned it. So very happy.
My mates R8 new exhaust was absolutely amazing, it sounded just like a V8 cup car at full noise.

Pentosin is indeed very corrosive to rubber but the Brake system runs off DOT 4 or higher, not Pentosin.
