Failed CA Smog Test
a lot of Cali cars have passed before and are having issues now with the new regs...the problem is that before the test station put the car on a dyne and did a sniffer test...you can pass that with all sorts of tunes and exhausts...but, now it is all about obd2 readiness before they will even hook the car up to dmv for smog..so, even if your car can pass emissions if there is no readiness check you will fail the test...btw...they are also a lot stricter about the visual inspection as well...you got to love Kalifornia...now they want to tax us for the number of miles we drive...feel sorry for any commuter when that becomes law
^ finally someone else who knows! I've been telling everyone/anyone that will listen of this impending insanity. this CA SB350 tax per mile stuff. it's coming, no doubt about it.
the only folks it doesn't seem to affect are the ones that came here from moscow. they just chuckle and say we ain't seen nothin' yet.
i've read it. it is scary stuff, the rest of the country wouldn't even believe it. but as goes kali, so goes the rest of the country.
sorry for the thread swerve.. gl with the try 2nd try tomorrow 996twins. even the 118 can get dicey at 40 lol, so if the 118 gets busy run a bit farther on the reagan hwy to where they have air force one parked at reagans library, there's never any traffic there and even at 40mph, you'll still be faster than air force one

I'm not sure what all has been done to mine but I was able to smog it here right after swapping out a dead battery - they checked readiness codes
I run full emissions and 200cell cats, I think if I had to go through those kinds of hoops to set readiness I'd scream. Maybe find a willing dyno? I've been told that's how some cars almost had to be set back when we had just switched to obd-II...

dude. how/where? lol
I've seen fake cats many times and not hard with a little fabricating/ingenuity. I always put mine back on and not that big of a deal as long as you didn't sit around thinking about it too much lol.
no one would ever accuse me of "thinking too much".
ima try it. just remove the 200cells ( is that possible? or they welded or just stuffed inside? ) and stick em back on and turn the rear o2's off. love it ha

I was once told, after having PASSED a sniffer with a car running a standalone (no plug-in) that I had to few cats and he needed to see something that "looked" like a catalytic. That was when I began paying for stickers for that car and removed the catalytic I'd had installed. This car I have good catalytics and see no reason to remove them other than I shouldn't be using them with anti-lag or a two step
I have delete pipes on the shelf but have never run them - they could easily be made to "look like cats" if I wanted.

Correct. I got smogged last month here in Orange County and it was just a visual and a plug and read. No sniffer for our cars. Just be sure your I/M readiness codes are green. Bought a OBD2 reader at AutoZone to test my car before bringing it in.
Mods on your car?
I need to try the "readiness" procedure again, did not get the chance over the weekend.
