Would a bad valve cause weird blips in the throttle response? Just trying to pinpoint an annoying throttle hiccup, sometimes from a dead stop if I blip the throttle it hesitates for a second and just feels a bit choppy. I already have everything apart and want to replace what I can while in there.

symptoms of a faulty #16 are essentially those a vac leak, as that's basically what it is. albeit a small one. idle surge, boost issues ( either + or - ).

based on your descriptions, I'd guess your issue is something else. only hiccup ( other than the *minor* variocam stutter at 2800/3k rpm ) I've ever had was a cracked coil.

gl with it. if you have anything more specific? perhaps someone else will chime in. a hiccup isn't much to go on lol

If you can, do a boost leak test. If not, it is pretty easy to replace if you lower the motor a few inches and the valve is like $25. My car had a bad #16 and a couple other small leaks when I bought it, it was a night and day difference after they were fixed. Good luck

How did you diagnose #16 was bad?

Pressure testing is the only way to find out.

if the check valve is cracked/broken the air will emanate from the valve itself. it will hiss like a hissy snake. it's so cheap as others have said, i think its part of preventative maint anyway. should change it, as old as the cars are. if ya haven't already. it's made out of the same plastic as the plenum. cheap.

So I pulled the valve last night and it turns out to be ok, but I have a new one on order and will swap it in anyway. I also ordered a new throttle body seal as I think that might be part of the issue. When I compare the old seal with the new one it is clear that the new one is about 1.5mm wider so hopefully that will help. To be honest I think my main issue here is the tune, I need to get a better flash asap.

Side note: I took apart my evoms dv's to clean and re lube them, during the process I was wondering if anyone has increased the spring tension at all? I have a few shims left over from the Forge DV's that I had installed on my Audi and they fit perfectly.

Did you do the pressure test from the lower boost hoses ? Does it hold 20psi. ?
If you have Durametric send me some logs I'll take a look at your tune and if you need a retune it's one week free trial you can always go back to yours if your not satisfied.
Here is a link to some videos how I do the tests. By the way , if the leak is from center bottom that's what it is.

It works on high end cars but entry level stuff I would not spend that money that way. Ar 1.2 bar on k16 billets is not all that worth it. But some good Intercoolers instead.
