cost analysis.....replace shocks, or do coilovers?
car has 106k now. still feels great, but could prob change them. Every coilover install thread I see turns out to be a nightmare since there doesn't seem to be a direct replacement without buying extra crap, trying to figure out what isn't working, and fitment. my car is a daily driver and I drive it fast. About all it sees. Thoughts?

If you like them, just replace the oem dampers and top mounts. Or a step up I believe would be H&R. I think the H&R street reuse all the same components. Just buy new top mounts since the used ones might be cracked and worn.

Coilovers all the way. You can easily just install the coilovers if you don't try to lower it too much. Lower it about .75 - 1.0" and you'll be able to get the alignment into spec with the stock parts.
My KW V3's are my favorite mod I have done to my car.

I had H&R springs before the coilovers. I am actually a little higher than on the H&R's.

just looked up the cost of OEM shocks and struts. I didn't think they were the same price as coilovers. lol and the top mounts are 330$ each?!?! wtf

tim olsen at olsen motorsports is in your back yard. call him. midwestern regional rep for jrz coilers and a great guy. talk to him about your needs and wants and see what he has to offer. whatever he has it will be a package that bolts on like it should with zero surprises

I just installed my H&R street coilovers and it was a REALLY smooth installation. The only extra parts I bought are front upper hats and bearings. My car felt perfect too but when I pulled the front hats out they had a few hairline cracks in the rubber bushings. Kit comes with everything else that you need including new front drop links.
I say coilovers all the way too
PS. I bought Torque Solutions rear adjustable toe arms and lock out plates but they are not required.

If you get anything thats like my Bilsteins, you can always use me as a reference for the install as I just went through all of it and its fresh in my mind. Most of the hang up is regarding what parts to reuse from the tops of the original shocks.

The prices for the top mounts are straight retarded.

I wanted something relatively easy to install without having to buy all sorts of extras. I wanted a great ride, better handling and the ability to adjust the ride height. I wanted a high quality Euro manufactured item rather than a Chinese sloppy cheap copy too. I didn't need or even want adjustable compression and rebound dampening.
I found everything I wanted in the KW V1 coilover set. No need for extra anything. Easy to install, I even did my own rudimentary alignment in the driveway good enough for 130 mph hands off the wheel. Pro aligned weeks later.
I did make some solid mounted upper rear adjustable dog bones but I don't think they are needed. I'm exceedingly happy with the results and added a rear adjustable sway bar. I'm about 1 7/8" lower than stock, which I have deemed too low for my around town driving. I'll raise it up a fraction.
