Its all done !! well, for now....

As some of you may already know and have helped me along the way (many thanks) this is what I have achieved in the last couple of months.

Recently installed.
  • PSS10 coil overs Euro spec.
  • Tarrett LCA solid bushings
  • Tarrett rear drop links
  • Custom curved front DL's(arriving any day) running PSS10's ones for now.
  • Eibach sways front & rear
  • GT3 brake calipers w/Pagid yellow pads.
  • 997T rotors
  • New rear axles/ CV's
  • Rebuilt gear box.
  • Drive shaft donut (sorry dont know correct name)
Previously installed
  • Kline 200cel exhaust
  • UMW flash tune
  • TS Semi Solid engine mounts
  • F1st Poly insert
  • 997 gear box mount & short shift.

This has totally transformed my car and feels like a much younger car to drive than its age suggests. its a real keeper and cannot see myself ever selling it, it'll be passed down to my son in due course.

I could not have done this with the endless help from a lot of the forum members, so I am very great full to you all.

Cheers for now.
Jim

I miss different Intercoolers in your list. With the standard Intercoolers you wont have fun at the track for long. The iat will rise so high your car will suffer From significant power loss.
For the track go for 997 GT2 RS INTERCOOLERS.

congrats jimbo. lots of recent effort, i'm sure will reward you nicely ! given your emphasis on handling components, your car should stick thru corners really well! keep yer shiny side up!

nice rides!

tell me, what is it like by comparison to drive a 7gt3 and then get back into yours?? is it dramatically different, power wise? i cant imagine you "got on it" given it was presumably a friendly swap, but i think if i were driving a new gt3 i'd be a bit sick at getting back into mine, much as i love it.

btw.. is that a freakin "call box" in that pic?! we dont have those any longer! lol

add: did you get to test the 991?! geez/jealous..

Respecting their cars I drove them 6/10th's through the corners and 9/10 in the straights in all mode settings. The 997.2 GT3 is very very nice, very nimble, agile, chuck-able and light on its feet. The 991GT3 is similar but at a higher level and very dramatic with everything switched on, the double clutch transmission is lightening fast and very intuitive.

They both had Sharkworks exhaust and sounded amazing, the sound just goes through your whole body.

Love the D/clutch but I think I would eventually long for the manual.

I have also previously driven the R8 which has a high end sports exhaust, sounds like a race cup car with the massive explosion sound between gear changes, just awesome. Very planted and solid car to drive, a bit like mine now with all the mods.

Hopping back in my car after driving them, I definitely was not disappointed especially the way my car is now set up. My car really feels tied down and much quicker than all of the other 3 cars.

Yes "call box" in remote country Victoria, we still have them. Amazing !!!

Great mods... Looks like you have put together a pretty great package there!

I think the eibach sways are my next mod. Is there a particular reason you are changing out the front drop links that came with the PSS10?

Thanks

The Tarret ones that I have felt better on the car but they were binding. The PSS10's are good but once you've tried the Tarret you can feel the difference. The Tarret give the car a more precise and sharper steering. This will be the 3rd front set sent to me, the latest ones will have a curve and hopefully clear everything. There's not alot of clearance with the front drive setup.

Oh, another thing one of my near new PSS10 one has a split in the rubber section with the lubricant oozing out.

Custom Tarrett DL's arrived today and fitted today :-) . Had to do a small mod, see pics. No more binding, yippee.
996TT with the AWD really need these bent links, the straight ones do not work, believe me I've tried every angle, spacers and length. The PSS10 ones do not work with the Eibach sways either, they were over stretched and badly split on the rubber dust cover.
Ira at Tarrett was amazing to deal with and can not thank him enough for his excellent service.
