Pdk into 996tt??
[QUOTE=racer959;4434309]
People have opened up the PDK and replaced the clutches. It's not done very often, I think mainly because the new engines the trans mounts to are direct injection and pretty fuel capped.
Dodson has/had a prototype clutch pack for them. I'm not really sure what the status on them is, I would ask John Shepherd @ Shep Trans.
If you can get a bell housing adapter and bolt it up you can probably control it with a standalone such as a Syvecs. They have the new Lambo dual clutches under control anyway.
I'd love to do the same thing with my 997 but it would be quite a project. If you build transmissions for a living it might be right up your alley. Seems like a step backward to put a torque converter in it.

Isn't the PDK like 2 transmission in one and the gearing in a separate sealed trans? I don't know for sure but I thought the clutches are accessible but the gears are not. Don't quote me, I don't know this PDK well enough.

the bell housing bolt pattern is likely the same. its the same engine
When you swap to a auto tranny that's usually the opposite of what everyone else tries to do but here's the facts. You'll want to swap wiring harnesses so you can put in a TCU for a PDK. You'll have to either recode the stock ecu or put in a PDK ecu. The most important thing to all this is finding someone who enjoys figuring out all the small coding details in the computers. If you toss the 996 ecu and replace it with the PDK ecu and get the pdk tcu you may not have to worry about coding but I wouldn't get my hopes up. There's so much in these ECU's now days that usually you'll get a few codes that will be a pain to get to go away when you switch to the PDK tranny. Good luck!
