Front Seat Removal

Do I need to disconnect the battery when unplugging the front seat electrical connector to avoid any error codes or other issues?

TIA

i would if for no other reason than those seat belt connectors under there can get messed with and then you could get airbag errors. yeah.. i would = safe side.

If you have durametric, no, otherwise, yes. Also make sure everything is reconnected seat wise before you reconnect the battery.

if you remove the seat belt connector that arms the airbag the light will go off and dealer has to reset

As i installed my recaro pole position i didnt care about electrics. Nothing happend at all. The airbags got nothing to do with the seats. The 996 has no airbags inside them. Just dont operate while the ignition is on. The seat belt connector must be plugged in again and all is good.

Off to the track this weekend, and will get the ABS and seat belt lights cleared out while I am there.

the seat belt connector tells the computer that theres a person in the seat and arms the airbag when the key is turned on. if you unplug the connector with the battery on you set off the airbag abs lights and dealer has to reset.

x2

I just put in a set of OEM Euro GT3 seats. I had the factory seats out with the 4 bolts, disconnected the seat belt harness and swapped in the GT3 seats with no issues. And that's with the battery connected the whole time.

**KEEP YOUR KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION, if you do this then you won't trip the ABS light!
