My 996TT
My 996TT
Thanks for the welcome, for some reason, the forum isn't letting me edit or post in my 1st thread.
Don't know if you guys are into drag racing or not (I love any kind of racing), but I took the 996 to the track a couple of weeks ago and ran pretty well. Here's my slip:

My 996 is an '02 stage 4. It has K24 turbochargers, GT2 intercoolers, Evoms airbox, Evoms race fuel GIAC programmer, full TechArt body kit, full TechArt race suspension, Brembo 16" race brakes, 19" HRE wheels, TechArt race clutch and some other extras.

heres mine:
at the time it was on FVD stage 4 ECU and FVD race k-24s, stage 2 clutch, exhaust, dvs, gt2 intercoolers, 19's tires( ouch).
AND ITS A 6 SPEED( the reason i say this is cause it seems like guys with TIPS have better 60 foot and thus better TIMES.)

Problem with the TTis that the launch is a *****... u either bug it down or over rev it... if ur not in the perfect rpm range. Most drag cars rev up to 6000 rpm and dump the clutch- try to do that on a tt. NOT.
so the cars can be faster only if we would not have PSM to fight with, the wheel hop, and the ****ty short first gear which is useless. just my opinion.

Seems like these 1/4 mile runs are all over the place. Stage 4 is 600 hp right? Isn't the MPH pretty low at 123mph for 600hp? I remember sharky getting close to that with just a chip? Years ago now.
Just curious really...

knowing him- he probably had something extra(boost controller, intercooler spray)... not sure.
our times r right on the money- in my opinion.
what I dont get is how the gt700,750,800,and 900 hp TTs dont get anything better then 11.1sec. NOW THATS A MYSTERY.

I'm not a dragracer at all, never been to a 1/4 mile strip, so I don't know much about it. I have taken a ride in a 600 hp turbo though, and it feel much, much stronger than stock. I'm just surprised that it only adds about 10 mph in the quarter...
Just confused is all...

I recall he ran 11.7 but the mph was less( I dont believe that a simple chip would yield a k-24s hp #s, unless he had something extra. mph denotes HP, and k-16s do not put out that. Knowing sharky, he had to have a trick up his sleeve, he always does. one can run 11.7 with less mph...
u have 2 independent cars running almost identical with almost the same set up....
and its was a TIP- big advantage in my opinion.
