The race on the output shaft bearing (in the picture) was really bad, but the ***** in the bearing and the other half of the race looked fine. The gear and guide sleeve picture were from my car, so you can see 2nd gear had visible wear, but was not destroyed by any means. The guide sleeve didn't look bad, but you could definitely feel burs on the side that engages with second gear.

FYI the picture of the trans laying on it's side (below) was NOT from my car. These gears were destroyed, but did a better job of showing the second gear arrangement than any of my pictures.

My oil cooler o-rings were getting hard, flat and had to be pulled our of the grooves in the casting (they were definitely shot).

The clutch, pressure plate and flywheel actually looked great, but needed to be changed, because they wouldn't hold the power.

Later, Steve

Guilty! AEM hit me up about their 996 system literally days after buying a ProEFI too That will go in "soon" and if not happy I'll be back to AEM.

Gearbox scares me almost as much as engines on these cars. The engine can be built stout somewhat easily, the recipe is clear, but gearbox? That one is a can of worms and once the power gets past a certain point you're going to have to go into it one day or another

I suffer from previous Supra owner syndrome.. What do you mean I have to build it to hold power??? lol. Yeah, the gearbox is something that keeps me hesitant to do much anything. I baby shift it even when driving passionately. Threads like this are great to see the end results of what can happen and what's involved to fix it. Knowledge is power...
