The in car shifter has nothing to do with this. I'm talking about the transmission mounted shift lever. Apples and oranges...

Yeah, I've just read I think all of your messages about cup shifter on this board. Can you point to a part # for it?

Also, if I install a non-cup upper lever afterwards (the CAE, for example). Will they work together ok with no overkill?

The transmission mounted lever part# is 9963030319A. You also need the bracket (996424165A) that aligns the cables with the shorter lever.

You can use whatever shift cables and shifter that you want. Stock, CAE, GT3, Cup, whatever... I would not use the 997SSK since the throw would be way too short. The 997SSK was designed for the long TT transmission lever.

pwdrhound, great. I updated my parts list on the first page!

The only issue I'm left with is steel synchros. To be or not to be?
I found these part #s on the Internet (the ones on the left are what I have now, stock brass):

95030461120 (synchro rings for 1 -2) --> 95030431130
92830421123 (synchro rings for 3 -4) --> 92830421130

Are these the right ones to go with the 7GT2RS mainshaft? There is a thread on http://rennlist.com/forums/911-forum...t-numbers.html, where Erik from GBox says to be cautious with these..

For some reason I see people using steel only on 3-6, not on 1-2?

Im in a similar position in that im in a catch 22 scenario, I have Gt35's im barely using, if I build a motor for which I have a spare and many parts like Carillo rods etc I cant take advantage as Ill smash the box, I have a spare trans so have decided to build that with 2 piece solid mainshaft, SS syncros and straight cut 1,2,3 gears and extended 6th with a Quaife ATB diff and billet diff cover with uprated shafts, the only upside is I can launch the car harder and it will have more top end over our Vmax events which are around 1.3 miles, the whole car will come together when it has the built motor with 12mm studs and O ringed heads etc. But for now it has to be the box as I dont want to smash an expensive box that I could in effect sell to finance a large portion of my engine build, but I want a spare motor and box at all times.

These are my speeds in gear with 1-4 7GT2 gearing, 5-6 6GT2 gearing. These are based on a 7500 redline and 27" tall rear tires. With a lower redline and smaller diameter tires, the speed will be manually less.

1st......55mph
2nd.....91mph
3rd.....123mph
4th.....158mph
5th.....187mph
6th.....230mph

Sorry for bumping old thread just can't get a definite answer. Are the 996 brass and 997 steel synchro interchangeable?
