Rollbar questions.........

Looking at the techquipment rollbar..........and I have a few questions......hope this hasn't been covered recently as I haven't been able to find it here.......

How difficult to install? If it's beyond my expertise....what have others paid to have it installed?

What in the interior do I have to cut during the install for correct fitment? In other words....should I assume that once installed it's permanent? Or can it be removed easily and the car returned to stock appearence............

Thanks

Chris Barton

It' doable, but not easy, many potential pitfalls. Rockitman has a good diy on this on renntech. I'd consider it semi permanent. It does fit and look fantastic, SS never needs paint. I have the model without a rear crossbar, allows use of the backseat as well as keeping the stock front seats/belts. PM me if you want a brand new one at a good price.

Here's the link to Rockitman

http://gallery.rennlist.com/gallery/albuq52

I had mine powdercoated (cost about $120)...really sets it off...take Rockitman's tip about getting some longer bolts cuz there is some crushing of the plastic side panels where the front downtubes mount and you won't have to crush as much to get the bolts started....

Thanks Chuck- that's the GMG one which went into that yellow GT700 996TT car. I have one just like it but haven't put it in yet. It's a little stronger than the Tequipment and has an extra brace on it

Glad you likey da' flash! Garret is good at getting more HP, even out of NA cars! You have a great holiday too.

PS I'm going to spend some time building that ghetto 930!

keep in mind the Tequipment bar is technically made to be installed in a non sunroof 996 so there is a very good chance of headliner damage when installing in a sunroof equipped turbo

THANKS,

Chris

well out of the 4 I have done 3 left marks in the headliner which was liveable but 1 tore the headliner to shreads and I had to replace it

Remember to raise the sunroof to the vent position when installing...this will help to keep damage to a minimum

Don't discard the thought of the Tequipment piece...it is beautifully made, just make sure it is installed by a seasoned prof.
