Navi swap in 2005 996 TT?

Just got a 2005 Turbo S cab and this is my first Porsche so I'm in learning mode right now...

Does anyone know how hard it would be to swap the navi head unit in my 2005 turbo S cab for an Eclipse AVN unit? I've installed the AVN in my last car so I'm familiar with it but I think that the 911 Navi may be tied-in to the cars computer with some sort of bus that might make this simple swap difficult...Scott

If you are able to switch it, I would be interested in buying the stock Nav from you.

You can´t replace the PCMII in a early 02 Turbo. The new system use the MOST bus system.

Does the MOST bus in the 2005 system make it impossible/impractical to replace the Nav/Radio?

Don´t know, i think it will be very difficult. Ask you local porsche dealer. The only thing i know, you can´t swap pcm1 and pcm2.

Aftermarket Audio System in MOST based Porsche

I took the stock Navigation system out of my 2005 Boxster and installed a Pioneer AVIC D1. I replaced all of the speakers and the amplifier. Then I didn't have to worry about the MOST system. It works great!

Actually, the harder part for me was coming up with a good trim ring for the head unit.

That's good news since I would guess that the radio systems in the boxster and 911 are the same or at least very similar. The trim ring isn't a problem for me since I have a full machine shop...the wiring isn't a problem either as long as the Radio/Nav isn't somehow required to be connected to the othe rcomputers in the car...
