K16 install
K16 install
I just installed my k16 billet turbos and went to my tuner for a custom 1.3 bar flash. I added a 5 bar FPR and my tuner analyzed the info on the car and realized that we want to stay at 1.2 and the UMW tune in the car from before the turbo upgrade worked great. My tuner did not need to make any changes to Kevin's flash. We will do a custom tune when I add injectors but my tuner was not comfortable adding any more boost on the stock injectors with the turbos.

Nice numbers! I'm really impressed with the torque! Where did you dyno?
I notice you're in Annapolis. You interested in getting together? I'm collecting info on all the local 996TT guys to do a gathering of sorts. Also looking to put together a caravan to Hershey swap meet.

not really. its were the torque hits the hardest at 2000 to 3000 rpm that has to be watched. to fast a spool and hard hit bends them. the 1.2 is max boost not how fast it spools. thats the downside of k16 super hard hitting at low rpm. i would suggest keeping the torque below 600 ft/lbs on any car with stock rods and studs in it

Yeah, boost isn't the issue cylinder pressure is and high torque is an indication of it. Maybe pull some timing to soften it up, might even speed spool?
I'm in VA as well and so long as we can pick a central point and get a few peeps together I might be down. Can't wait to get my car back lol!

The power curve is bouncing around like crazy do not use a 5bar above 1.1bar also you have some knock looking at the graph and you will bend a rod quickly with that torque kicking in so fast and high. Send us a data log asap. We're just looking out for you because if that engine pops your looking at 20K dollars. Even with a 5bar your injectors are maxed out.

Never heard of him but can you answer my post above please. Thanks.
Datalog if you have one. I would go and talk to Kevin because your torque is way to high and I know Kevin would never run a 5bar at 1.3bar.

For comparison, here was my stock internal engine with Kevin's UMW K16/GT2RS turbos and detuned by Kevin for track use and 91 octane. I had his injectors and 3.8 fpr. His tune was flawless and detuned down low to protect the rods. I would have Kevin look at your logs since you had his tune to start. Something might not be quite right since your power drops off rapidly on the top end..
