It was hard getting in third.

About a week, it started having problems going into third grear. I had a felling it was the Third gear synchronizer, and I guess I was correct. Porsche told the dealership if the syn look like a picture they sent them, that is was abused and not covered under warranty.

hm... they should not judge base on the pic i think @_@
weird... b/c they should be able to tell if you have been abusing the car by reading from the computer and etc...
try a different dealership if they're not willing to cover the part for you...
a good dealership should be able to willing to replace any part for you if you haven't abused it... (that is if you didn't...)

Just got back from dealer

The third gear synchronising ring has worn away, and the synchronising cone of the coupling shows tarnished colours. In the book, this states abuse. Spoke with some mechincs in our shop at work (Construction equipment not porsche experts), they stated that it cannot be abuse but may a issue with the fork or the molybdenum layer? Every other gear is perfect and snychronising rings! How could I just abuse third gear. That is the easiest one to shift too. All time in the world for a smooth shift! You would think if you are abusing your gears, first and second would be the ones!
Thanks,
Chasedrive
any advise is great.

Chase...

Did your dealership take pictures of your 3rd gear...and if so, did they give you a copy of the picture? Possibly post it here for some of our tech experts to have a look.

Is there another dealer you can take the car to for a second opinion? I would call PCNA and ask for a regional tech representative.

It's amazing how worried everyone is about warranty and moding. Heck, Porsche doesn't even like to cover stuff when you don't have mods. Might as well have fun.

Exactly Ben! I don't even go to my dealer anymore...I've pretty much declared them useless.
