So one of the things I never like about the 996 turbo was how the front of the rear fenders and side skirt looked. How it has the little jog in them swoops out. I thought about rolling it before when I did my roll on the rest of the one fender when I modded to fit the 325s but didn't want to crack paint or mess anything up.
Well tonight i said screw it and just did it on the one side and it turned out very nice. Heat gun, fender roller, and a rubber mallet, in about 10 min I got it shaped up nicely. I took out the bump and slightly pushed the fender out.
Lines look smoother and the car looks a little wider visually as well. I still have to do the other side tomorrow nice but very happy with it.

I finished up the other side tonight. Really like how it turned out. I personally think it really cleaned up the lines on the car and makes it look a bit wider and more aggressive.

I assume you are rolling so your tires do not rub the fender well edges under suspension compression? Your tires look like they stick out a bit beyond the body. It that because your car is on a lift? I'm pretty ignorant in the widest wheel tire combo and spacing out the wheels to get the tire edge as close to the body outside as you can tell. Is that the object? I guess that's the trend now? I see a lot of cars where that seems the goal. I'm old and I guess I just don't care, but I do care and awful lot about optimal handling and suspension set up.
The roll on the top edge is for tire clearance yes. On the front though is to change the look of the car. I removed the what i think looks odd, bump in the fender line down by the side skirt. I think it makes the lines look cleaner and the car look wider.
As for the tire sticking out, there is no engine or trans in the car so the rear suspension is completely decompressed. Also with all the bushing and control arm installs, its horrible out of alignment.
i setup my cars for the tires to be as far out of possible but still be fully functional without rubbing. I race my cars so having full travel is important. I do mod fenders and liners to do this though. My particular tire choices here though would not be for the faint of heart and require a lot of modding to fit. They are very tall. Stock tires are 25.1 front, 25.0 rear diameter, these are 26.0 front, 26.7 rear and also much wider. On this car i have 255/35/19 and 325/30/19.
I really like the new line of the fender though I don't think I'd do it to mine. I'd be too worried about screwing it up. Looking forward to seeing your car when it's done it's going to look mean.
I'd be interested in seeing some photos when the car's fully operational. I take it you are RWD with that much tire size variance.
Here is at ride height before I did any fender mods or removed the engine and trans. Finally height will be an out .6 higher in the rear and .4 in the front. A little more room for travel and getting out of driveways.
This sounds like really a great idea.
Could you post up before and after comparisons when you are done?
Ya I'll take some pics out in the sun when the car is all done and back together. Still have a lot if stuff to install and then get the pro efi working.
Look at the first 2 pictures and you can easily see it. Look starting at the bottom of the fender right above the side skirt. The fender goes in, then back out. Essentially I got rod of the and then pushed the whole fender out a little more on top of that.
It's a pretty sudle change and if my 996tt was the only one you'd ever seen you never know but if 2 were string next to each other it's something youd easily notice.

It's pretty considerable amount once you look at it. It should be really noticeable once the engine is back in the car and sitting down on the wheels/tires. Nice job man!
