It all starts with "Im just going to do full bolt ons and a tune..."
Hey everybody,
I'm not a big poster but I've used this forum a ton and my car has gotten to the point I figured I would post about it!
So backstory on me; I'm a 22 year old professional race car driver, grew up around cars, and have a pretty solid mechanical background. My father has a 600ishwhp 1988 930 turbo cab thats a factory slant nose (talk about a rare car). I fell in love with how that car drives, its so brutal, all kinds of lag, super technical to drive.
About 2 years ago I decided I was going to get a 996tt. They were at the bottom of their depreciation so if anything its a good investment, right? I found a 2001 silver/black, sunroof delete, large carbon package, 33,000miles car that I only ended up paying $33,000 for. Well being 20 there was no way I was going to leave it stock. So I went with a tune from vr, spec stage 3+ clutch, coilovers, a set of forgeline gx3 wheels, and a custom built exhaust.
At this point the car was great and all, but I drive 850hp cars for a living, so I needed more. I saw Markski's k16 billet black friday sale, and after the response from him and the wealth of knowledge he shared I jumped on it. Along the way I also added 4.5" IC's, bigger injectors, and a few other things.
The car was AWESOME! I loved it! But about 5 months later we ran into some issues. It randomly started pulling timing going all the way to -1.5 at peak torque and obviously running horribly when doing that. Markski and I went through everything, and I mean everything. It didn't show any misfires, didn't show lean on logs, didn't make any sense. I ended up switching plugs and coil packs one night and the problem went away for about two months. Later on at the end of a long pull it came back. So thinking as plugs and coils fixed it last time I went to swap them out again. Got to the middle hole on the driver side and saw what nobody wants to see; melted plug. Detonation. Grabbed a scope and saw a hurt piston.
So the car went up to Martin and Markski in Chicago to diagnose why and to have some more fun!
While it was there they obviously replaced that piston/sleeve but also did a set of pauter rods, head studs, had the heads gone through, fully built trans with a 3 way gt3 cup billet rear diff, greddy ebc, SRM fuel system, tial alpha 2873's, Markski's headers and intake system, IPD plenum and TB, and a bunch more that I can't remember.
It looks like we had an injector fail to cause the last issue. Its really hard to say, but one cylinder went lean and lifted the ring land, the others looked fine. While I thought I had bought a bone stock car and so did the dealership that preformed the ppi, it ended up appearing that it was put back to stock for a variety of reasons so that could've caused issues as well.
But anyway the car is a monster now. I really wanted it to be a street car, no lag, instant power, but useable power, and thats what the 2873's gave me. Over 700whp on 104 octane with no lag. I'm extremely happy with Markski and Martin! They've been so helpful with everything, and build a hell of a drivetrain! I would never go anywhere else! Definitely gained a loyal customer.
So enough rambling, heres my complete mod list, and I'll add some photos when I get some current ones.

I don't have any quality videos yet but I'm sure I'll get some. Yeah I've run the NASCAR Sprint Cup series full time the last few years. This year I cut back to part time for a variety of reasons. I'll grab a pic of the mounts at some point. Just from the top through the hole in the strut tower?
