Need help....5 bar???
Need help....5 bar???
Took the car out today and would only hit .5 bar. It usually will hit .6, but not today.
It is an '01 with 24k miles on it. Im getting ready to take it in (after Xmas) for the 30k check up. It is all stock.
Could it be the plugs? DVs? a combo? Anything else?
Being in So Cal, where do you guys recommend to go for work? A dealer? GMG? Luccnt? Speed Gallery? Anywhere in the IE that is anygood?
Thanks in advance
Keith

I am going to give a guess that it is your DV's. Mine went out at 10k and I couldn't get much above 0.5 bar at that time, either. Then again, you could "hear" them leaking at times; especially between shifts under throttle. Do you notice a "honk" or a "whoosh" of air between shifts under heavy/WOT?
Do you get hesitation? Bucking? etc? Those are two symptoms that (typically) go along with plugs and/or a bad/contaminated MAF.
Perhaps you are in limp mode, but you would typically get a CEL if that was the case.

disconnect the battery for a few minutes.... limp mode it may be.

The does have a slight "bucking" or surging feel to it at times when letting off the gas. I have not noticed any noises between shifts, but I havent been listening for them either. I have havent had any CELs.
I would suggest Stan Reed ( tech) in Newport Porsche.
When he used to work at McKenna , they would get all the problem cars from other dealers - including SOME of the shops you listed.

The "hesitation" bucking was caused by a contaminated MAF that was improperly reading the volume of air entering into the system.
Congrats on your fix.
