Help: PSS9, Just the Springs, or the Sport Suspension

I want to make sure not to turn the TT Cab into a hard ride and am looking for some input to learn what the handling differences between the lowering springs, coilovers, and sport suspension are.

I like the lowered look but don't want to give up handling. I might give up handling if I just do the springs which gives me the look I want - and at this point that is the only thing I want.

Roads here in San Francisco have countless potholes of any size, driveways are steep. I have scraped all my 911s over the years trying to get into traffic gaps and not taking the driveway at an angle or going through a dip too fast.

I never had a car lowered before..... But this time I want the lowered look.

Thanks for your help.

I wouldn't do just srpings.. the amount of labor you'll pay just to install 350 bucks springs isn't worth it. Especially seeing as how poor our roads are out here. The PSS9s have adjustable ride height and dapening settings. The helper spring even improves the ride harnsess over stock if set that way...

Boris,

I tried to change my order to 19s today. The bad news is that I now have 18s coming in about three weeks.

The good news is I have not made any mistakes yet ordering the wrong turbos or software.

These are the wheels I'm having made in 8.5 and 11.5 x 18 with a 3.5 " lip.

man, knowing that u leave in SF, are u sure u want to lower it than euro M030?

sounds like US PSS-9 would be good for u, but do consider the fact that u're in SF. just not a cool place to drive a lowered car.

i saw a guy drove a Z8 going down hill in SF while i was visiting there last year... guess he was visiting there too & did not know the area very well ...u figured what happened

Oliver...

With SF roads, I think you made a smart choice with 18's! You'll appreciate it when you hit the potholes and 18's perform a lot better all around.

PSS-9s or another coilover...STAY AWAY FROM SPRINGS!!! I had H&R springs and they were terrible!!! They don't belong on a TT and are terrible matched to the stock dampers.

Oliver - I had H&R springs on my 01TT and now have PSS-9 on my 03....Difference is night and day.
WIth springs only, the ride was too harsh and the car sat really low. I have my PSS-9 setup such that the car is lower but enough to clear most driveways. The handling improvement is awesome!!! Best mod for the money.
Also, sharky beat me to my typical line I tell everyone: it costs the same amount of labor + need to realign whether you do springs or coilovers (about 10 hours)...
Good luck and let us know what you decide

i have pss9s set fairly high and i'm amazed that i never bottom out (speed bumps, steep driveway entrances, etc included). the h&r coilovers that preceeded my pss9s though bottomed out often and always required angular approaches.
