Noob Question: What year 996TT is best buy?

I'm in the market for a 996TT and was wondering which year, 01-05, is the best buy? Considering peak depreciation and reliability. I know about the "buy as new as you can afford" principle and assuming lower miles...Just wondering how much more the prices could drop with the 997 coming out soon.

Thanks in advance for input and advice!!

if money isnt an option, id say the most recent year ... if youre worried abou depreciation, id say go with an 01... possibly a really cheap 02...

I'd say an 03 b/c should have some decent warranty left and depreciation already at 2+ years. At one point there was about 10K difference between model years on resale and that probably still holds true for similar cars in similar condition. You could make the case if you were getting a stock car that for less than 10K certainly you could get a Porsche certified one and that would even better the warranty. In that case a 2002 wins.

Sounds like a good deal if the upgrades are what you want.

2001 is the best buy. No significant changes in the later years...just silly stuff like glovebox and seat memory. Early 01s have the bumperettes up front. You decide if it is worth paying more for such cosmetic or convenience items.

02' as you had a glovebox, cupholders, and if you got the upgraded stereo the Bose was lightyears ahead of the previous upgraded stereo unit.

I prefer the '03....why? that's what I have! actually, i would tend to look at 03 or 04 for the warranty, but low miles most important to me.

I chose an '01 due to that year being the lightest of the TT's. But if that's not important to you...I'd probably look for an low mile '03.

02+ also has upgraded boost hose clamps or something from what I hear. This prevents them from popping off at high boost and may eliminate the need for silicone hoses?
