Straight pipes Question
http://www.performancetrucks.net/for...-drone-489463/
I've ran FVD straight pipes on my 996tt for almost a year now. Drone isn't particularly bad. Yes, loud. To be expected. The car isn't a daily. I assume if it was a daily, I might be against having it straight piped. Otherwise, **** eating grin every time I drive it. Don't regret straight piping it one bit. No performance issues at all.
Turbo whistle for days.

I went with straight pipes on mine for two days. I relived the sounds of Nascar and the drone was painful and should be used to torture Isis prisoners. I installed an Xpipe with 200cell count cats and am very happy. Loud as heck under load and at idle but the cabin is nice and quiet at 70mph,no drone

I tried straight pipes with 200 cell stainless cats and the drone at about 2800rpm loosened the fillings in my teeth. It's the drone not the loudness that is the problem. I also tried a Fabspeed X-pipe and it also had a nasty drone that was intolerable. Again not the loudness but the drone that is the problem. I think you have to experience it inside of the car you just can't tell by listening to it on a video.
Im running gutted techart exhaust atm, And i'm thinking (try) going straight pipes. question
1) do I need re-tune
2) will i loose hp
3) is it bad for the turbos?

I don't track the car and I don't mind the noise~~

1. Yes you will have to ret-une if you're stock. First of all because of your check engine.
But yes, who can bear the sound, can bear the light!

2. I bought one to get more power, but if somebody can prove it doesn't... I'm curious. And affraid, too...
3. I asked to AWE, the maker of mine, they said it's not...
I run AWE straight pipes and love it, no vibration or drone.
Just a little loud for girls...

My 6 years old daughter loves it too.

Yes it is.
Here is a cold start in video. You can hear it's very loud when it's cold, and the sound starts to change when the motor gets hot and well adjusted.
What I prefer is when the exhaust is really hot, you can see nice flames in the dark!
