Making a custom exhaust
Making a custom exhaust
I went by a buddy's shop who was previously employed by an aftermarket exhaust manufacturer. He builds custom race cars now. He is going to build me a custom 3" stainless exhaust including high flow cats.
I plan on doing a before and after dyno and posting sound clips and video.
If nothing else it will be a fun project....
I plan on keeping you guys abreast of the situation for anyone who may be interested.

Ari,
I see that you are nearby me. I had a custom exhaust made by a an exhaust shop in the SFV (Fast Intentions -- they specialize in custom exhausts for street and race cars). They did an incredible job -- everyone who has seen it has been universally impressed with the quality and workmanship. They used 3in stainless, just as you intend to do (it is very difficult to squeeze in 3in piping).
The following are a couple of photos of my exhaust:

Good luck with your project! PM me if you want any input from a neighbor who has gone down the same road.

I have admired your exhaust for some time. Do you have any sound clips? Does it sound really boomy?
Thanks.

He's going to make it out of stainless all the way.
He actually mentioned making a Jig after we get some results and maybe setting up a group buy.

Craig. That is awesome. Looking at the configuration, that has to be one loud exhaust.
I plan to incorporate cats and may eeven go with a single muffler (with 2 inlets and outlets) to mellow the sound. That won't give optimum power, but should flow much better than stock and give the usual power gains.
BTW I would love to see your car! I work right on Desoto and Sherman way and live near top O topanga.
