GT2 clutch/slave conversion help!

So I'm in the process of getting my transmission pulled out to upgrade my clutch. Looking to get the GT2 mod done the oem way (drill/tap) rather than the kit. I was wondering if anyone has a part list with part numbers I can reference to source out all the necessary hardware needed for the conversion. I came across several topics regarding this but not exactly the most thorough.

Can anyone help me with this as well as direct me to a DIY? Car is on the lift at the moment and started prepping from tranny removal but an establish DIY would be a big help.

You will need the same hardware from a bracket conversion minus the bracket(master, line, slave and spring), plus a gt2 clutch fork which is a mirror of the TT's ..... The inside of the gearbox will have to be slightly clearenced for the new fork ...

Good luck ...

Why not just use the bbi slave cylinder? A lot less hassle, around the same price, and you don't have to touch your p/s pump.

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...onversion.html

you will need a master cylinder, reservoir cap, slave , slave line, gt2 clutch fork gt2 clutch spring if you want (not required). remove the gear from the back of the p/s pump and cap the lines. flush the system "COMPLETELY"

not sure were your pricing is at. complete oem setup aprox 700$ bbi setup 1100$ and not yet proven to last the miles.
as for touching the p/s pump its a coupler at the back. remove the cover remove the coupler. takes about 1/2 hr from start to finish.

I don't believe the BBi slave comes with a master cylinder, so you'll have to add that into the cost.

So, i was lucky enough to find a cheap clutch fork for $70. But regardless here is what I see for cost:

GT2 slave- $120
2 studs and nuts- $5
GT2 master- $65-75
Braided 4an brake hose(of reputable quality)- $20
Gbox slave to AN fitting adapter- $80
GT2/G50 fork- $190-200 new
Dot 4 Brake fluid- $15?

Not sure where the prices quoted here are coming from??

I would maybe spray a full can of brake clean down the lines to clean them. I thought I flushed mine pretty good but it still failed. The second try is holding up.

Exactly. Prices are more for this swap than before. I also bought the gt2 PS reservoir just to not have to plug the holes and that was like another 500, so about 1,000 total seems right. Peace of mind knowing it's all done 100% and OEM is nice

those are todays pricing and the only need to use a different p/s setup is neatness. remove the coupler leave the lines and plug them at the trans. cost 2$

i also run gt2 p/s setup but found it used for 250$ so i grabbed it

This is everything needed to do the conversion? My clutch arrived this weekend and the only debate I have now is whether or not I wanna do this conversion or just buy a new slave accumulator for $150 and call it a day.

aside from a couple studs ,nuts and a couple qts dot 4 yes. then theres the actual labor and removing the coupler from the p/s unit and swapping the master after fully flushing.

i have a couple p/s pumps with the couplers removed if anybody is interested . then you can keep yours like it is.

This.

The bbi setup is very well done. It ends up looking a lot less hokey than the bracket to mount the GT2 slave somewhere outside the bellhousing - but it is f-ing expensive. If you are not planning on dropping the motor&trans, it might be a viable alternative. Personally I'd still just go ahead and r&r the trans. Even though the bbi unit is nice, it is not OEM. And unless you are looking to change the parameters (reduce weight, change ratios, etc etc), OEM is almost always better than aftermarket. And in 10 years you'll def still be able to get a replacement OEM slave. Who knows if bbi will still be doing their kit in 10 years...
