996 Turbo "Track" Stereo
So my 01 turbo came with the stupid Bose and Nav option from the factory but I love the way the GT3 center console delete looks and I won't be driving the car very much/ I'll be doing a few DE days a year. So my question is what bezel do I need to move the Ac control up and put a single Din in? I will also be pulling the OEM AMP, speakers and wires and just run dash/ front door speakers off the decks internal amp. Has anyone done this before and if so do you have any pics of install? Thanks in advance

Plug and play even with factory nav? I was under the impression nothing was plug and play for that? I also wouldn't be needing a cubby since I'm doing the center console delete

My question was asking about deleting all the factory wiring and speakers. If anyone has done it and just replaces it with the 4 speaker system and a head unit. It would be simple, cheap and light.

FWIW, the door speakers/enclosure are significantly heavier than the rear speakers.. The GT2/3 cars don't come with the door speakers if I recall. Maybe just run dash speakers and rear speakers, the OEM speakers in those locations are not very heavy.

So you ran your own wiring and ditched the factory harness? Which 2 wires did you retain for power? And what kind of internal bezel did you use once you pulled out the factory nav screen to accommodate the AC controls and single din?

Good question, being as I did it about 9 years ago.....lol All the power for the stereo is direct from the battery on its own breakers, if I remember correctly I ran a lead from the ignition switch to a couple relays to turn the whole thing on. Pretty sure I used the Gt2/3 bezel frame to move the AC stuff up and made a frame for the din from billet aluminium then wrapped it in carbon.
