Question CGT Question

The seats in the CGT are basically GT3 seats with different style on the upper half, I would like to know if the CGT will come to the states with these seats or different ones for the states and if it comes with these, why the hell cant we get GT3 seats in the other models such as GT2s, GT3s and Turbos? We are told DOT approval, I am left wondering now.

I went to the Recaro booth at SEMA and spoke to the rep about the seat. They had a CGT seat on display and it is unique to the CGT. It is a carbon fiber shell with leather seating and is DOT approved but only available on the CGT. The mounting track setup will not fit other cars without serious modification. The seats are great looking and light as can be. The carbon fiber looks awesome and isn't there for looks. You can buy the seats from Porsche but not from Recaro.

The article I read stated that the unique, GT-3 type seats WILL NOT be in US CGT's. Probably has to do with DOT, EPA, crash-testing or some other mumbo-jumbo.

No, the CGT was build in a way that nothing changes for Europe to the U.S. so the seats will be in the cars in the U.S. But you are correct on the GT3 Seats they are only a ROW option because of some D.O.T. regulation.

If thats the case that the seats will be brought here in the CGT, I dont understand why they cant make the GT3 seats so that we can get them optional in our U.S. cars.

But we can get the seats in our cars, not just from the dealer or when the car arrives from the factory. But I know what you mean. It is the same argument for the ride height of the US 030 and the RoW 030.

The suspension is BS also, we have to change all these parts on the U.S. cars, the GT2 and GT3 come to the states and they are low ride height so why not the Turbo and Carreras the same way? I just dont agree with it.

My thoughts is because of Porsche no longer is a real sports car company and is worried about the regular coustomers complaining about how harsh the ride is.

You could get all these ROW options from factory on a US order car under one condition:
Porsche has to crash test a few cars to get DOT approval (not a cheap process)!! Kind of retarded if you ask me...
Most cars that are modified to US spec get uglier: eg. front bumperettes on first 996TTs, bumperettes on McLaren F1....etc...
