996 SRM build thread

I am buying the parts to start a build...
Here's the plan:

SRM K2471s
SRM Intercoolers
SRM Fuel Pump upgrade
750cc injectors
plugs/coils
New F-hose/DV's
Speedtech 2.5 exhaust (race cats)

I'll have lots of questions, but first I am trying to source the new turbine inlet and outlet copper crush rings for the turbos, anyone got a part number to help me out?

You will need a clutch and a GT2 conversion most likely. Consider some inlet pipes or going mafless also.

No inlet pipes for mafless, just filters on the turbos. Those turbos are huge, you will shred that clutch in 3 seconds. Pull your motor and do all of this stuff at once.

some others have said that I can probably hold on to the stock clutch for a while tuning to 1.2bar. I know that it wont last long, but I figure I'll put the clutch on the list and get to it later... big mistake?

stock clutch wont last on a built motor. no sense in pulling the drivetrain twice. get a tilton from sean and do the gt2 slave in oem form its about 500$ cheaper than the bbi unit and once you build the motor you wont ever go back to a assisted slave setup

no current plans to build the motor... my understanding is that I can stay around 1.2 bar and be safe and happy with this setup?

+1, do everything in a single swipe. Bigger upfront expense, but you save in the long run.

Mine didn't last one 3rd gear pull during tuning.

Your clutch might last 1.2 bar on stock turbos, not upgraded ones.

I get a little clutch slip on some pulls with K16s at 1.1 bar and tune/exhaust/ICs, so I am not really beating on the car until I can do the clutch.

It isnt an issue of mileage with the power level you'll be at, its clamping force

My upgraded clutch lasted, till E85 went in and it died in 2 pulls lol. My turbos are K24 based too. The Tilton is a beast, Sean has a master for it you would want if you go that way.

Sean had talked about doing fender pipes for MAFless but I'm not sure it happened and they seem to end up custom for every car. Filters on the turbos will help for sure though, stock pipes are really restrictive. If you do that you'll have to figure out BOV so bear that in mind. Yes, things snowball....
