I have the RS mounts. Very inexpensive and nice upgrade. My stock mounts were not in poor shape but I enjoy the slightly stiffer mounts, it was noticeable in terms of handling and acceleration between gear changes. I have a 997 trans mount, BTW.

I agree that most of the mounts are the same. Quality of the "solid" mount material, and the parts that are needed on top of what you get may also differ.

I bought these and am very happy with them. I have friends that have the RSS / and other brands.. They couldn't believe that I got these at $280.

Where did you source the mounting bolts, it appears you can't use existing bolts.

These should be included IMO, making it easier for the installer.

If you go with Porsche 964rs mounts, using longer through bolts allows lowering the engine further without having to support it.

My first commute with the RS mounts installed today. About 160 Miles each way to the bay area from Sacramento area, mostly all nice freeways. I did notice more just plain noise, almost sounds like my muffler does not work as well. So NVH is noticeably increased with the RS mounts. However the car also just feels tighter, on-off the gas, on the farmer freeway out by Beal AFB and general shifting and handling. They are a keepers.

Dumb question I'm sure, but does this mean that OEM RS != RSS ?

RS equals the Porsche 964/993RS mounts that also fit a 996 or 997. RSS is an aftermarket company that also makes mounts.

The OEM Porsche 964RS semi solid mounts are very very good. It's what I run. Porsche got it right with these. No downsides whatsoever...

I had the same questions.
The Turbo is my daily driver, however, I Autocross my car monthly and drive track events 4 or 5 times a year.
The downside to soild and Semi soild motor mounts is the added vibration. I did not want additional vibration in my daily driver!
GMG takes care of my car and its set up.
My mechanic recommended I try the OEM RS style mount kit.
They worked perfectly. No noticeable vibration increase, much better handling.
It is the best solution!

What other hardware is needed besides the mounts themselves? It would seem some of these kits do not come with everything...
