Check Engine Light Experts: Need Your Help

Hi All:

I took a trip to Asia for three weeks and finally started up my TT today. I immediately get at "Check Engine Drive to Workshop" message. The car sounds fine. Any thoughts on what it might be.

Looks like I will be driving to the shop tomorrow.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

It could be anything, honestly. My one complaint with the OBDII ECU is how sensative it is towards...well, anything; especially on a TT'd car.

Yeah, car is totally stock except for a EP II exhaust that was installed over a year ago. Never had a problem before. No changes have occurred at all (no ECU remap, DV's, etc).

get an obd2 reader. or swing by discount auto parts. they'll read it for you for free.

Just take it to the dealer they'll read it for free. Id rather the experts diagnos the car than some discount auto parts. Im sure its really nothing.

i wasn't recommending that dicount auto parts fix the car, just give you the code.... they'll tell you the same code that the dealer will. it may be something silly that you can reset and forget about. my dealer is 45 mins from my house.

that's why i went and ordered the autoengenuity software so i can read and reset CELS.

Yeah i guess that'll do if you live that far away from the dealership. Just saying that if there is a problem after the read you can pretty much take care of it right then and there most of the time.

Thanks for the input.

I will hit the dealer next week when I am not so busy with work. It's really close to my house...

Thomas,
the light came on because its telling you that you are spending too much time at Angotei and the car wants a different parking lot. . . ;-)

Did you restart the car and if so was the light still on? As was said these things (OBDII) are sensitive and they can "choke on a bone" and it don't mean a thing?

On the other hand if it did stay on......

It stayed on...time to visit my dealer. I hope it's nothing serious. Car sounds exactly like it used to.

And I hate visiting my dealer. He called me today and invited to the Saturday launch of the Cayman. He also has an F430 he wants me to test drive...

If the Cayman is what I think it is, I may have to pick one up...or pick up a Cayenne this weekend.

I just hijacked my own thread...
